DOOR NOT SHUT ON DOYLE - Poole boss Matt Ford has hit back at speculation and rumours of a rift between him and Poole asset Jason Doyle and suggested that the Australian figures amongst his options for 2009. Speaking exclusively to www.poolespeedway.net Ford said "once again I feel it frustrating that I am having to comment on things I have read on the internet which are clearly unfounded. There has been speculation about issues between myself and Jason but no-one who has seen fit to state such things on the internet has spoken to me about it. So, let me say here and now that I have spoken to Jason on about 10 occassions this season and I am unaware of any problems between the pair of us. Jason was, like a number of Poole assets, a victim of the number games for this season and we loaned him out for a season, a one-year deal, as I recognised that he firmly fits the bill of a developing rider. Letting him go for one year does not mean that there was never a way back for him at Poole, that is why we held on to him as an asset. I can categorically say that Jason is one of several riders who I would be most interested in using in 2009, but of course at this stage without the points limit having been determined it is far too early to read anything more in to it than that statement. Speedway is a numbers game and the key to successful sides is to utilise riders who have the ability to improve on their averages, in much the way that Chris (Holder) did so for us this year, but of course not necessarily always to that extent. In Jason's case his season on-loan at Somerset has been good for him and it could well have worked in his favour. We will just have to see what the decisions at the Conference bring next month. But what I will say right now is, Jason is a Poole asset and that means we have first option on him and will for sure be talking to him again. At this moment in time no other club should be talking to him under the rules of the game and, if it turns out that we will not be able to include him in our starting line-up for next season then it his highly probable that we will be looking for something much more than just a loan arrangement. But all of that is dependent as I said on how the points limit turns out and how we decide to build next year's side. Right now though our concentration is full on trying to win that KO Cup this weekend. From: www.poolespeedway.net

From: www.bournemouthecho.co.ukPIRATES chief Matt Ford has revealed his pain over the almost certain break-up of their championship-winning team.
Poole Castle Cover swept to the Elite League title this year with a powerful side labelled the ‘Magnificent Seven’ by their fans.
But, as is always the case in speedway, a sport renowned for levelling its playing field every year, only about three of those riders are likely to be back at Wimborne Road in 2009.
Top-flight bosses are due to meet in Rugby today for discussions on their rules and regulations for next year.
With final decisions taken at the British Speedway Promoters’ Association’s conference from November 13 to 17, talk is the team-building points limit will only be increased from its 2008 figure of 38.85 to 39.90.
That means it’s almost inevitable Ford will have to go through a similar scenario as 12 months ago when he had to choose between Bjarne Pedersen and Jason Crump to lead his side.
Only this time, the decision will probably be between which two out of three heat leaders he can keep from Pedersen, Chris Holder and Davey Watt, and who else out of Magnus Zetterstrom, Adam Skornicki, Freddie Eriksson and Daniel Davidsson he could retain.
Ford, whose co-promoter Giles Hartwell is likely to attend today’s meeting as Poole’s representative, said: “Having to break up a successful team always breaks us up as individuals as well.
“Andrew Marchington, managing director of Castle Cover, our main team sponsors, always gives jobs to people he thinks will improve his business.
“It’s the same with us. We get people who improve and then have to let them go. But there’s nothing much you can do about it except just get on and build a team within the new rules.”
Looking back on the individual performances of riders in the side’s title-winning campaign, Ford added: “It’s unreal what Chris has achieved this year, getting an average of almost nine in his first in the top-flight.
“Bjarne, my captain, I love him to bits and he knows it.
“Davey has been just tremendous, while Daniel and Freddie are guys who came in and did great jobs.
“In fact, it was the turning point of our season when we brought in Magnus and Daniel in mid-May, which says it all about them.
“That only leaves Adam, who has proved to be outstanding.
“Some people thought I had rocks between my ears when I announced we had signed him last winter, but he proved everyone wrong.
“He has been fantastic.”
Travis McGowan, who misfired for Swindon for much of last season, has already been linked with a Poole reserve spot for next year.
Ford, though, will have been thinking long and hard about whom to retain from his 2008 side, with Pedersen’s long-term loyalty to the club likely to see his name first on the team sheet ahead of tapes up in March. So, from that can we deduce that Watt and Eriksson are likely to be on their way? They'll be keeping Bjarne, and they'd be mad to let Holder go.

Apparently the signing is Daniel Davidsson. Confirmed on the Poole website, along with this:- Ford delighted the gathering at the Champ's Bar by also confirming that he had reached an agreement with the Elite league sensation Chris Holder to return in 2009.

Bjarne Pedersen confirmed tonight:- 30 year old Danish international Bjarne Pedersen has put pen to paper to be a Castle Cover Pirate for the 8th consecutive season. The softly-spoken, former GP rider, who will miss out that tournament this season after an early season injury in 2008 forced him to miss two rounds, skippered the Pirates to league glory in 2008 and finished the season as the 5th highest averaged Elite league rider with a 9.12 CMA. Bjarne will again the lead the Castle Cover Pirates as he joins both Chris Holder and Daniel Davidsson as definite starters from last season's highly successful outfit and his recall was confirmed during the Rider Equipment Fund Quiz night evening held to raise further proceeds for the support fund. The 2009 Pirates, which under Elite league rules can be built to a 39.90 combined average, has now utilised almost 22 points of the total leaving 17.94 points to play with for the remaining four berths. www.poolespeedway.net

From Poole's website:
Hot on the heels of the re-signing of Bjarne Pedersen comes news that the first new face for 2009 will be Canadian racer Kyle Legault. The 23 year old Ontario born rider endured a traumatic season with Birmingham, his third Premier league club since coming to the UK in 2005, suffering a broken thigh in the early weeks and the breaking his jaw after returning to the saddle. Legault who will be competing in the Argentinian Championships has been a three-times Canadian champion and has already performed at Wimborne Road when he rode a world U21 championship round, catching the eye of Poole boss Matt Ford at the time. "Kyle has been a rider I have watched for some time" said Ford, "and when I learnt that he was looking to step up to the Elite league for 2009 and I immediately started to prepare some permutations with Kyle as a Pirate. I am sure that he will be well liked by the Poole fans as he is a dynamic rider and I am delighted to welcome him into the fold. Legault achieved a near 7 point average with the Brummies in 2008 over just 13 meetings
