Andersen's demands have always been said to be reasonable and he was keen to come back to the Elite League, so although he'll be doing okay out of it, I doubt it's excessive. However, when you read that Zagar has turned down offers from Swedish clubs you have to think he's on a good screw down in Wiltshire. And Sandhu is probably subsidising his beloved global superstar's misadventures in the Europe and the GPs handsomely.

Pleased with this signing. With what we have to play with average-wise, to sign a young Brit is fine by me. Ihope no-one expects match-winning scores from the lap, but he has to be better (and with no air-fares, less costly) than Karol.

You're obessed. And he's possessed!! He wasn't much better on Thursday night at Foxhall, but for some unknown reason he decided to square up to "Cassius" Nicholls , not the best idea really ;D ;D

Talk on the terraces on Friday was that Steve Boxall has quit speedway. Can anyone confirm this and is there a replacement lined up?

All I know is he was meant to guest for Swindon at Lakeside on Friday, and didn't.

No official news, but Gary Patchett wrote on the BSF that Boxall was scheduled to guest for Swindon on Friday, but withdrew, stating that he has now retired. He blew his engine at Poole last Monday on the start line of Heat 2. He says has no money, no equipment and no sponsorship, therefore he has no alternative but to retire. Great shame - feel sorry for the lad. No news of a replacement yet, if this is true.

If this is true, then it is very sad, for Boxall and for the state of British speedway that young decent British riders are struggling for money. 2 or 3 years ago Steve rode for us as No 8 and made a huge impact, I feel sure that ipswich were keen to sign him the next season, but dear old Uncle Len said words to the effect "Ipswich sign him over my dead body" , well not saying he would have flourished with us, but he certainly hasn't had the best of times since then. Anyway as I say it will be a great shame should this be true.

Rotten shame for the young fellow. He's been fucked around by various clubs this season and this is the consequence.
