Brilliant signing. Surely this is a jest? Nope, I've liked Freddie since his Oxford days and know he's capable of improving on a 3 point whatever average. He's a bargain.

I think Poole look stronger now that they've included Freddie Eriksson instead of Craig Watson.

POOLE'S management are seeking to improve their team's small-track performances - and hope to hold a practice session at Rye House in order to achieve it. Pirates have regularly struggled at the Elite League's tighter circuits such as Lakeside, although only skipper Bjarne Pedersen returns from last year's team which reached the play-off semi-finals but faded in the closing stages of the campaign. Promoter Matt Ford is keen for the likes of Polish duo Karol Zabik and Zibi Suchecki to gain more experience of the smaller British circuits, with Hoddesdon - home of the Premier League title winners - seen as the ideal venue. Poole's home track is one of the bigger in the Elite League, but Belle Vue, Lakeside, Ipswich, Eastbourne and Wolverhampton are all under 300 metres in length. Ford said: "I will be discussing with Len (Silver) whether we can practice on his small circuit as preparation for the new season. "If we get the go ahead, I would envisage all our boys going to Rye House to have a run out so they can sort their equipment out for small tracks. "The season isn't that far away now and riders will soon be getting back into the groove." From www.speedwayworld.tvWell, I hope it pays dividends for him. Tarnow are doing something similar, with a team building week, where the lads will be going skiing and other activities to bond. I think both are good ideas, and should be done by more clubs.

KAROL Zabik has targeted a place in the Grand Prix as he heads into the busiest season of his career so far. The former World Under-21 Champion has team places agreed in Poland, Sweden and Great Britain and has confirmed that he will take his place in the GP qualifiers as well. Zabik was hopeful of a Wild Card place in the 2007 European Grand Prix early in the season but his age went against him despite his strong start to the campaign, following on from injury at the end of 2006. Zabik said; "I'm riding to fight for the GP and I think this year in England can help me be a better rider and give me more experience. "Hopefully the GP organisers will be able to see a young rider from Poland is beginning to make some good scores and have a good year in the GP qualifiers. "The first goal is to be a good rider for each of my clubs, to help them be high in their leagues. The second goal is to try and get into the GP." Zabik had a brief spell in the British Elite League with Peterborough in 2006, and though he was somewhat inconsistent he did record some notable scores, including a paid 15-point haul in the Panthers 56-36 away win at Poole - which suggests he may already have the measure of the Wimborne Road circuit. From www.speedwayworld.tvWell, it's certainly ambitious.

Well, it's certainly ambitious. Ambitious it may be, but after watching him defeat Tomasz Gollob from the back TWICE at Torun a couple of years ago, it's realistic too.

KAROL Zabik will be fit for Poole's first team meeting of the new season despite a heavy crash at the weekend. Zabik piled into the fence on the first bend of Heat 15 in last Sunday's Diamond Jubilee and sustained heavy bruising to his hip. The Pole then withdrew from the re-run and his final outing, but is expected to be given a clean bill of health for the Challenge match with Lakeside on Wednesday. Pirates co-promoter Mike Golding said: "Being an individual meeting, we supported Karol's decision to pull out after he thought he had no chance of winning it. He was badly shaken because it was a nasty crash. "But he has told us and Czestochowa's president, who was also at the meeting, that he will be fit to ride for us at home to Lakeside on Wednesday. Karol is ready and raring to go in our first team meeting of the season." From www.speedwayworld.tv

Why would anyone want an "assistant" team manager?
Now that we don't have "proper" tac subs, team managers are not exactly overworked anyway, are they?

Why would anyone want an "assistant" team manager? Now that we don't have "proper" tac subs, team managers are not exactly overworked anyway, are they? Very true, and let us remind ourselves of the last time Mr Lynch was an 'assistant' team manager. It was at Oxford in 2005, and it would seem (to the cynics amongst us) that his most notable achievement was to 'encourage' two members of that team to join a rival promotion the following year!!! With the arrival of Lynch and the rumours surrounding Golding, I just can't help feeling that 'something' is about to happen down on the south coast!!!
