It looks like the 'big signing' is Kevin Doolan..........as a number 8!! Correct Kev. Doolan is our new number 8 and all that kerfuffle just for that. Waste of time and doesn't really strengthen us at all....just means, like before the averages came out, we've got 2 very, very, very good reserves. Ooops....edited to add www.bellevuespeedway.org

With the news that Batchelor has made way for Zagar at Swindon, rumours are that Belle Vue are after him.

If true then that would make Scott the most unpopular signing in Belle Vue's history. Some people, it seems, just can't forgive and forget

BELLE Vue are talking to at least two transfer targets and are racing to have a new man on board in time for their next home match against Eastbourne on July 20.
Club bosses have a break in Elite League action because of the World Cup.
Aces' supremo David Gordon said: “We cannot make the end-of-season play-offs so our big target now is to make progress in the cup.”
From the BSPA.
I wonder if one of those signings could be Magnus Zetterstrom? He rides (rode) with Kasprzak in Sweden, and now his team have gone bankrupt he could perhaps reconsider his decision not to ride here.

Apparantly one of them is Zorro but if his 'beloved' Poole couldn't tempt him over then we don't stand a chance...Smederna or no Smederna.
No idea who the other one is but we do need someone as it's painfully obvious, though not yet official, that young Mr Forsberg won't be returning to these shores in 2009.

Zetterstrom would be a very poor signing in my opinion. There are talented youngsters out there who would not only become Aces' assets if they were signed, but would improve as the years go by..........Zetterstrom falls into neither category.

It's not been confirmed by anyone within a capacity at the club regarding Zorro, it's just forum talk at the moment.
Bad signing for me anyway. Wrong age and can't remember him ever doing anything at Belle Vue...........come to think of it I can't remember him at Belle Vue at all.
GMP are looking to rebuild the asset base that was decimated by Perrin and Co. and it's youth they are after.
Should be an interesting few days at Kirky Lane anyway.......much more interesting than anything that's happening on track.

It's not on the online edition just yet but today's Manchester Evening News carried a report that Belle Vue are struggling to sign a new rider. It states that the riders either can't fit our fixtures into their schedules or they are just demanding silly money.
Surprise Bloody Surprise.

Belle Vue are going to have add the words 'Once Were' in front of the Aces moniker. David Gordon has stated a list of riders that have turned us down this season which reads: Scott Nicholls, Hans Andersen, Mikael Max, Magnus Zetterstrom, Piotr Swiderski and Emil Sayfutdinov. For fucks sake it must be bad if Max and Zorro say no

BELLE Vue have been granted a 28-day facility by the Promoters' Association to use a guest in place of Billy Forsberg and have called in former star, Jason Lyons, to ride in Monday's home Elite League match against Eastbourne (7 30). Forsberg is racing again at home in Sweden after injury but doesn't feel ready to return to Elite League action with the One51 Aces so he has been deemed to be withholding his services. The Aces can use a guest up to Forsberg's 5.05 average and team boss Chris Morton has opted for Aussie track specialist Lyons, now with Premier League Birmingham after a 12-year spell with the Manchester club earlier in his career. Morton said: "Lyons will come in at No 6 to partner Ulrich Ostergaard at reserve and I am sure he will do a good job for us."
Press Release from Richard Frost.

Really feel for the Aces, I wonder if perhaps your Monday night race night is a stumbling block for many riders Bad luck for Charlie, my favourite Dane. It is bad luck for Charlie but it's amazing how many folk change their tune. On the Aces forum on Thursday it was 'Charlie is crap, get rid of him now etc etc' and 48 hours later it's 'Noooo, Bad News, Get Well Soon Charlie'. Hypocrites. I like Charlie, I really do, but this season he has been abysmal. Like Stead before him, he's suffered the loss of the cushion having Crump in the team gives. More pressure on Charlie to perform and he's buckled under that, many times prior to picking up the injury. I do wish him well and hope he has a speedy recovery. Monday Nights??? Hasn't stopped Wolves putting together a decent side.....and where are they in the league? I just think it's at that stage of the season where riders can't be arsed trekking to England a couple of times a week. They haven't got anything set up over here, no UK bikes, mechanics etc etc. It's just probably not worth it. With that in mind Belle Vue are now going to, somehow, have to pull a rabbit out of the hat and sign someone a.s.a.p. Surely we can't use R/R and a guest facility for the rest of the season.
