My wish list:
Jonas Davidsson..6.72 Andreas Jonsson..9.66 Tomasz Jedrzejak..5.71 Lewis Bridger..4.98 Ricky Kling..5.09
=32.16
Leaves 7.74 for two riders based on a 39.90 limit (roughly - I don't have the final averages.)
Much as I think Adam has been one of the best riders for the Hammers this year, his average now reflects that, and either he or Andreas will have to be a casualty of the points limit. Don't want to lose either of them, but that's the way it has to work.
However, for me personally, Jedrzejak is a must. What would Nieminen come in on?

These are the accurate GSA's for Lakeside this year. It's no forgone conclusion that they'll be official as the BSPA have been known to make a few cockups, but just for the record, here's the real ones:-
Andreas Jonsson 9.66 Adam Shields 8.10 Jonas Davidsson 6.76 Joonas Kylmakorpi 6.02 Leigh Lanham 5.21 Ricky Kling 4.90 Lubos Tomicek 4.48
Kauko Nieminen didn't ride enough meetings to achieve a GSA, so his EL average will be based on his final Workington figure.
Tomasz Jedrzejak likewise, didn't ride enough meetings so his current (5.00) should be used.

According to this week's Speedway Star it could be Lakeside or bust for Jonas Davidsson in 2009. The Speedway Star reports that Davidsson has admitted that he might "give British speedway a miss" next season if he can't be fitted in down by the side of the shopping centre. Davidsson's comments:
"I want to be back - that's what I'm looking for, that's my plan. I've been with so many clubs and I think it would be stupid to move again. I had four really difficult years but I kept fighting and it feels like I've turned it around. Every time I come to Lakeside, I'm extremely happy and that hasn't been the case before. If they can't fit me in, maybe I'll just stay home and do Sweden and Poland next year but I'm pretty sure I'll be back."

I think that there'll be a place at Lakeside for Jonas Davidsson next season. But they'll have to make changes to accommodate the points limit, whatever it is finally set at. Personally, I'd be looking to take out Andreas Jonsson. He was a steal this season on his very low 2005 average. It was obvious that he'd increase that substantially. But is there any further improvement to be had? Not much, I think. Lakeside might be as well looking at something along the lines of Krzysztof Kasprzak, Adam Shields and Jonas Davidsson as their spearhead. Kasprzak is in this week's Speedway Star saying he wants a British return, he's a friend of young stanley and he has much to prove.

But is there any further improvement to be had? Not much, I think. I agree, as good as Andreas is, his consistancy cannot be compared alongside that of Crump or Adams and his average is way too high, but somehow i suspect Jonsson is viewed with awe at west ham and they will mistakenly decide to keep him. The man i feel sorry for is Lanham, a loyal servant to the east Londoners who will probably be told to he is no longer required.

Andreas is the rallyer - the team spirit, and the one who helps pull things together. He brings more to Lakeside than just points - but then that's only my opinion.

Difficult to say what will happen with Lanham. His average wouldn't immediately rule him out. But as in most instances, loyalty is a two-way thing and as much as Lanham has been loyal to the Hammers, the various promotions have been loyal to Lanham. I would imagine that if the worst comes to the worst, Lanham could drop down to the Premier League, where Rye House will be looking to replace Wolverhampton-bound Tai Woffinden.

Mr Lanham is the subject of many arguments between Hammer supporters. I feel he has been luckyto hold a place for the last couple of seasons. Steady at home but on the whole rubbish away. An Ipswich asset and 31+ years of age. I suspect unless he rips up the trees at Brandon next week the poor show at Poole could have headed him to the exit door

From www.speedwayworld.tvLAKESIDE boss Jon Cook says the Hammers have plenty of options with which to attempt to go one place better than in 2008. After years as a wooden-spoon club, the takeover in 2007 of Stuart Douglas as owner and Cook as promoter and manager transformed the fortunes of the Purfleet club. They steadily improved to mid-table in their first season and then became serious title contenders in 2008, finishing level on points with eventual champions Poole before losing heavily in both the Elite League Grand Final and the Craven Shield Final against Coventry. The Hammers have a number of assets with which to build their team but speculation also exists over the Elite League future of No.1 Andreas Jonsson, whose average is just over ten points. Cook said: "I have sat down with Stuart and we have looked at something like six ultra competitive teams, which shows a good range of riding options for us. "We will be talking to all of our 2008 riders to see what their ambitions and aspirations are for 2009, but we won't rush. "We have given ourselves a significantly higher benchmark after the success of last season, and it is essential we keep a watching eye on what is happening around us in the sport and in the country in general, but I can’t wait to get started again."

Totally gutted to read this news, although I can understand the reasoning behind it. It's reassuring to read that AJ could well be back in the future, and I certainly hope that's the case.
A big thanks to AJ for everything he did for the club......he did both himself and Hammers proud and certainly put the doubters' noses of of joint!!
It's also interesting to read that Cookie has concluded negotiations with two riders and is currently talking to their current clubs with a view to bring them onboard as assets.
My guess is Kauko and Tomasz, but time will tell.

Totally shocked by the news. First when was told I thought AJ did it himself by just looking to the GPs. Can't see many teams having a star rider this year. Hope this is good for AJ in the GPs anyway and hope to see him back in the future when the BSPA let us have teams with a bigger average.
