Mills is surprising given that he said he didn't feel he could do the number 8 position justice (or words to that effect) last year. But I don't really know much about him. Perhaps a confidence rider?
Disappointed not to see Jedrzejak, but pleased to have Adam and Jonas back. One concern is that five of those seven riders picked up injuries towards the end of 2008 that kept them off the track for various amounts of time. If they all ride to their full potential it could be a good team, but it'll be wait and see.
Shovlar says on the BSF that team won't be challenging for the title, but I'm thinking that with Poole's line-up so far they'll be having three Brundles filling the other places.

Kylmakorpi, Nieminen and Mills are good signings, but less sure about some of the others, especially Lee Richardson.

Given the depth of his knowledge of speedway (in which a sparrow would have little fear of drowning) I wouldn't worry too much about what he thinks. When Poole signed Legault he didn't have a clue who he was... now two or three days later he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Disappointed not to see Jedrzejak So am I, likewise Ricky. So am I, to be honest, the lad has a lot of talent and is a trump card at a number of away tracks. Meanwhile - Schumi, I think it's a fair assessment to say that Millsy is a confidence rider - most riders are, to be honest. In the hands of Jon Cook, one of the best man managers in the sport, Millsy will flourish.

He's a bit handy at tracks as diverse as Peterborough and Eastbourne, so it's hard to guess this one. Glad he's not going to ride for the Swindon Budgies.

Question marks about pretty much all 7 of the 'ammers for next year.
Rico and Judas D are enigmas. Shields, Robbo and CoC all returning from serious injury. Captain Nemo in the top 5 and Mills is just rubbish.
Could be a long Summer down Purfleet way.

Okay, my thoughts:
Adam Shields: Should do well, a good little rider.
Lee Richardson: Another than should do well in a diluted league.
Jonas Davidsson: Needs to build on his encouraging 2007.
Joonas Kylmakorpi: An injury plagued risk.
Kauko Nieminen: Good to see him escaping Barbaria.
Stuart Robson: Nasty, horrible, despicable Mackem.
Chris Mills: Oh dear.

Can't do any harm, he's a star in the making and Ipswich do have a nice environment for him to ply his trade in......... fingers crossed for you Badger, but Eastbourne appear to be favourites.

I seem to remember he was quite handy round Foxhall, but will have to wait and see I suppose, I mean why Kling, when we can have Johnno, Screen, Louis and Loram

I think had it not been for the last month at Lakeside, Kling would have been a certainty to be back. But I guess they had an ideal team in place for next year, and all it takes is for one change to mean another.

From speedwayworld, and possibly the reason Ricky couldn't be fitted back in?
LEE Richardson has performed a dramatic about-turn and will be racing in the Elite League next season. Richardson rode for Eastbourne in 2008 but had dropped several hints that he would not be back and would instead prefer to concentrate on continental racing. However, he has now agreed a deal to join Lakeside for the 2009 season, on loan from parent club Swindon. Hammers manager Jon Cook said: "Lee's interest in joining us came out of the blue and was the defining moment in our preparations. We had a long chat about the season ahead and within 48 hours we had agreed a deal and during those talks he clearly showed a wish to sign for us above others which augurs well for his time with us. "Adam (Shields) will be fully fit by March and we shared breakfast last week and he was clearly delighted with the make up of the team he will lead. It’s great that top riders like Adam and Lee take that level of interest in the Club." Alongside the top two, Joonas Kylamkorpi and Jonas Davidsson return, with Stuart Robson making his comeback from injury in a full transfer from Premier League club Rye House, and Kauko Nieminen is joining from Workington. Chris Mills will take a doubling-up spot but there will be no place at Purfleet for Ricky Kling, who is expected to join Eastbourne. Cook said: "We are absolutely delighted with the team we will put on track in 2009 and despite the average restrictions I think it’s as strong as last year’s team that went so far to bring success to the Club. "We learned a lot of lessons in the run in last year and we have put those into practise with the line up for next season."
Just goes to show that not everyone wants to ride for Poole.
Seriously, I like Lee, and knowing he wanted to be a Hammer is an early indication that team spirit will be as high as it was last year.
