Or maybe it's all a ploy to give us something else to talk about than Stepneygate. Rob, regarding 1997, what are you talking about? It was only Villeneuve, not his team-mate. Get some perspective here. ;D

Get some perspective here. ;D Schumi, Just pointing there ar levels of cheating. Alonso's actions today I would put on a par with Schumacher at Monte Carlo last season. I wouldn't put anything past Alonso now... so maybe he will go on and match Schumacher by deliberatley taking (1994) or trying to take (1997) his rivals off to win the championship. I had complained that F1 was missing a villain since Schumacher's retirement, but step forward Mr. Alonso. Of course, neither Senna or Prost tried this when they were battling for the championship at McLaren... they knew better than to cross Mr. Dennis. Alonso WILL pay for what he did today, Ferrari seem to have a settled line-up now, so if McLaren do give him the boot, he will sturggle to find a top-line drive for next season. Which is exactly what he would deserve for being such a wanker. All the best Rob

I do hope you're being ironic there Rob.................. Donsking, There was some very hard driving on the track, such as when Senna drove Prost close to the San Marino barrier, but I can't recall either of them deliberating sabotaging qualifying for the other, or using what what would be described as "underhand tactics" against each other. And of course there was the collision at Japan in 1989, but only once Prost was already on his way to Ferrari... which makes it a different thing entirely. Prost didn't care if he upset Mr. Dennis by then. I don't think either of them dared to upset Mr. Dennis up until that point, well not in the same way Alonso did today. But correct me if I'm wrong. As I said, you DON'T cross Ron Dennis. Had a BMW or Ferrari ended in second place today, ahead of Hamilton, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Alonso receive an instant P45... World Champion or not. All the best Rob

The stewards are currently holding an enquiry, whilst the headline on PlanetF1 is "Alonso cheats his way to Pole."

The stewards are currently holding an enquiry, whilst the headline on PlanetF1 is "Alonso cheats his way to Pole." The stewards would be totally in their right to put Alonso back by ten places. We've seen drivers penalised for upsetting the qualifying lap of other drivers... why shouldn't a driver be penalised even if the driver whose lap has been upset is their team-mate? Even better would be making Alonso start from 22nd, the same as Schumacher at Monte Carlo last year, i.e. Alonso marked out as being a cheating wanker. And maybe paint the words "Cheating Wanker" down the side of his car in red paint. All the best Rob

The stewards are currently holding an enquiry, whilst the headline on PlanetF1 is "Alonso cheats his way to Pole." So they should though really. When they are really strict these days with just about everything with the rules in F1, how can he be allowed to get away with that? Unless of course, all these things are designed to keep them on the front pages. (Sorry like DK I am a cynical so and so.. If the Government can play 'spin' so can an F1 team. Either way, Hope he starts from the pit lane tomorrow. ;D

Schumi,
Earlier in the season I posted on the BSF: "I hate to admit it, but I'm missing the German".
Well, today that's changed. I needed a bad guy, and now I've got one... that cheating flapperjack Alonso.
Just one thing.... what used to make things so much fun, was the little arguments we had over Michael.
Unfortunately, they don't seem to be any ardent Alonso fans on here. Therefore, would you mind changing your name from "Schumi" to "Alonso", so those fun days can recommence ;D ;D
Yours in anticipation,
All the best Rob

Jim, I believe Alonso was penalised last year for holding up another driver. I would hope those rules apply in the pitlane as well as on track. Unfortunately there probably isn't a rule about baulking your team mate - I'd guess because nobody believed anyone was actually stupid enough to do it.

Two words Rob - one of them is "off". I'll take that as a "no" then We do need someone who will defend the indefensible on behalf of Alonso, though. Anyone got Alonso's mum's telephone number - if no-one else likes him anymore, she will ;D All the best Rob

PS. Is the proposed writing on the McLaren to be in Ferrari red? ;D Yes, McLaren have to break into the Ferrari garage and nick the paint to use on Alonso's car, therefore resulting in Ferrari claiming that the paint made the McLaren go faster, culminating in "paintgate". All the best Rob

So was I the only one who was laughing out loud at the TV when it became obvious that Fernando wasn't in any hurry to leave the pits?
I honestly don't see that this should be anything other than an internal team matter, and am unimpressed that the stewards have become involved.
It is possible that Fernando was just waiting for the perfect track position, just as he did on his earlier stop (before the team screwed that up for him), and the fact that Hamilton was inconvenienced was just an unfortunate side effect....

It is possible that Fernando was just waiting for the perfect track position About as possible as Father Christmas and the tooth fairy both existing... Was obvious what Alonso was up to... and holding up another driver during qualifying IS a matter for the stewards. All the best Rob
