And even more interesting posted from "flagrag", the forum spokesperson from sky: As i understand the matter both Coventry and Peterborough are ready to go into the 2011 Elite league after a winter of arguments and talks.
It is true that the media rights money for 2011 was shared out between the 8 original clubs that declared their intent to run in the Elite league and the two outspoken clubs were told that no rights money would be available to them this year. But as all parties want Coventry and Peterborough to take their place in the league and to prevent further problems from happening later in the year. A deal was brokered so that the both clubs would recieve some tv rights money along with meeting compensation although this is lower than other clubs and this money would be deducted from 2012 payments along with rights to televise an additional shared event meeting in 2011.
There is now one club in understand that are unhappy with these new arrangements as they have made their business plan for 2011 on Coventry and Peterborough not being in the league which in my personal opinion is a poor business plan and a little silly to base it on those terms. This promotion is obviously looking at the situation from their own ends and the effect of these teams operating on their business in 2011. I am told that most clubs are to tell season ticket holders that these matches featuring Coventry and Peterborough will be extra as the prices were set on an 8 team league and most fans i hope would understand that this additional cost has not been forecast in season ticket pricing.
This is very disapointing after all the work that different parties have put into making this new deal possible and so that fans and Sky viewers get the best of the Elite league. I can state that various people in authority are very unimpressed with this saga and the continued delay in being able to have confirmed UK tv coverage as planning and scheduling are at a standstill and already two ad campaigns have had to be changed because of these outstanding issues.
full quote from BSF and then, this post after accusations of it being BV: Obviously it is not for me or anybody else on this forum to reveal which club it is that is holding up this process and possibly putting the whole tv rights deal at risk. But I will say it is not Belle Vue and as i said previously is based on business plan issues rather than axes to grind with the two promotions. I can see why this club has got worries and how it could be a negative thing for their club but having the two clubs back is for the best of the sport and the fans in general.
also quoted in full from the BSF by "flagrag" Kings Lynn, it seems......aaaaarghhhhhhh!!!

Why do you assume it's King's Lynn. Another post suggests the only club against is Poole.
Let's face it the fans know jackshit and that's the way it will probably stay. All fans will know in March is if the EL consists of 8/10/Zero teams.
After the posts on BSF inciting fans to "barrack" Coventry and Peterboro fans maybe it's best if fans don't ever know the ins and outs. That way maybe speedway can stay the mainly friendly family sport it always has been and does not go down the tribal "your club did this or that " route.

Seems that is not actually correct, alledgedly it is 7 of the teams who disagree, the only team to agree being Poole!!!! So I think we can safely say that, no-one really knows what is going on ATM, bit like it's been since November really.

I'm not sure it necessarily works that way Kev. As each team would individually be affected (perhaps substantially) my guess is that it has to be a unanimous vote. You have to remember we are only weeks away from the start of the new season. All the clubs would have already had to make financial commitments to riders, mechanics, stadium owners, suppliers and other staff. Assuming that each club cuts their cloth to fit their width, any kind of reduction in planned income at this stage could really throw a spanner in the works. Bear in mind that most clubs are talking of the losses they made last season and the need to make sure they don't keep doing so, I doubt that anyone wants to start the season out of pocket, knowing that it might only get worse as it goes on. This might particularly be so for the newly promoted clubs, if indeed it is one of them who has raised the objection. They would have had to give very close consideration to the increased costs of running in the Elite League, and maybe there's just no lead left in the pencil to sharpen!

I have to agree with your reasoning Munners, and whilst I am not saying it is 1 club or 7 or naming names because I actually don't know, let's not forget the statement KL made on announcing moving up though: Co-promoter Jonathan Chapman said: “We are aware some of our fans may be concerned about finances, but we can assure them that this is a calculated risk and not a gamble.
“The costs in the Premier League have crept up considerably over the past few seasons while in the Elite League the costs have levelled out, so with this in mind and the fact we will generate extra income through Sky TV and sponsorship it will all hopefully work out well for the club.I can't believe that they can really think that surely niaive at best, especially as they are cheaper than the other clubs in the EL too. I do know that KL voted NO for Ipswich to drop down to the PL, and rumours are that they also voted NO for Mildy's return, although so did all the others apparently

Missed Opportunity? MONDAY, 07 FEBRUARY 2011 15:29 Speedway365 has found out that allegedly over a week ago, all Elite League clubs were fully behind a compromised deal to allow the Coventry Bees and Peterborough Panthers to return to the sport. Contrary to recent reports the revised deal included a share of the SkyTV money. We are led to believe that the deadline for this deal to be accepted has now expired, with the season just under five weeks away it now looks like both Coventry and Peterborough may have missed their opportunity to take their place in the Elite League this year. www.speedway365.com/index.php?opt....news&Itemid=587 Please note Speedway365 is nothing more than a fan website - it has zero official connections. Most of their articles are badly written and articles like this should be treated as nothing more than an overflow of the rumours on BSF. 99% of their articles are just recycled from other speedway websites and the other 1% (like the one you've posted) are likely to get them shut down.
