Not entirely true - I think the bit about the Sky money may have been news to some people Zonkers, I honestly don't think Coventry and Peterborough can expect to receive a share of the Sky money. After all, King's Lynn were tempted to move up on receiving a particular sum. I do see a massive inconsistency. On one hand, the two clubs are pleading poverty, saying they can't run without the Sky dosh, on the other, they have employed a very, very, very expensive lawyer. As I said throughout I believe there is blame on all sides, and nobody will come out of this affair with any credit. However, it has to be said, that the actions of the Coventry and Peterborough promotions is not going to win them any sympathy votes. It's time for them to put their toys back into the pram and grab the olive branch that they have been thrown. Couldn't agree more Genghis. I think they're all as guilty as each other, but whatever the rights and wrongs, there is clearly an opportunity there to sort it all out and for one reason or another (and to be honest I care not why now) they won't take it. All the current EL teams have to carry on preparing for the season, and that includes budgetting. I don't see why any of those clubs should either hand back cash (if it's already dished out) or subsequently accept a smaller slice if indeed Cov and PBoro decide to end the threat of legal action and accept the offer to rejoin the EL. I would hazard a guess that they money they've spent on Paul Harris so far is greater than the sum they would receive from Sky anyway!

I think most of us neutral fans all feel the same now TBH, whilst last November we probably felt, oh at last someone is prepared to stand up and be counted and not just roll over when the "big 2" say jump!!!. However, enough is enough already, I'm afraid it has gone too far for an amicable solution, but should it go to court, whatever the outcome, speedway will never be the same, if it actually survives So, what is the solution

Rumours abound on the BSF that Coventry are returning to the fold and will ride EL in 2011, but nothing about Peatboghorrors Also that Bomber will ride at No 1 for BV, and Pansy Andersen will be No 1 at Coventry

Pedersen Criticises BSPA THURSDAY, 27 JANUARY 2011 13:03 Three time World Champion and former Elite League rider Nicki Pedersen has openly criticised British Speedway's Governing Body. The Danish World Cup winner feels that by reducing the Elite League's points limit to 40 for the 2011 season is damaging the future of Speedway in this country, with only three of the Grand Prix regulars confirmed to ride in the Elite, the new limit has put more emphasis on bringing in 'middle' riders as Pedersen says. As resident of Stevenage, Hertfordshire Pedersen still keeps any eye on the British scene although he hasn't figured for an Elite League club for over three years and the way the sport is going, we risk loosing the likes of Pedersen and his fellow Grand Prix riders all together. In an interview with SpeedwayGP, Pedersen said: “They keep saying they’re going to bring the top riders back, but they don’t seem to do anything about it. “It’s only going one way and sometimes you need to spend to lift it to a higher level and make money from it. If you just keep reducing, reducing, reducing, it’s only going to go one way.” He added: “I just think the money we used to get as top riders now gets paid to the middle of the road riders. They (promoters) haven’t gained anything. The middle riders just have a higher value because they have become more important now.” www.speedway365.com/index.php?opt....news&Itemid=587

Panthers future could be resolved
Sponsored by By Mark Plummer Published on Fri Jan 28 10:50:22 GMT 2011
Speedway: THE Evening Telegraph understands Peterborough Panthers’ future could finally be resolved today (28 January).
The British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) are believed to have called another EGM for today which could lead to the city club and reigning champions Coventry being restored to the Elite League line-up for 2011.
A previous EGM earlier this month failed to find a resolution and the two clubs responded with a threat of legal action over decisions and rule changes made at the sport’s annual meeting back in November.
Panthers owner Rick Frost confirmed earlier this week that negotiations between all parties were ongoing.

Are there any riders left to sign? Harris and Schlein have just gone to Belle Vue, Boro's top end has moved to Lynn - who else may be available, affordable and willing to come in?

Dunno To be honest I haven't taken much notice of what's been going on it just struck me that most of the usual suspects are sorted for team places, could some of these loan deals could be reversed at the last minute?

Riders left over 6 and a half-ish, I think, are down to...... Hans Andersen 8.39 Matej Zagar 8.04 Troy Batchelor 7.03 Adam Skornicki 6.92 Eddie Kennett 6.49 i.e. bugger all unless you're looking to the likes of Hampel, Jonsson or a larger number of lesser known polish talent I doubt if loan deals can be reversed that easily, or rather, no promotor renting a rider would sign a contract that said "this contact is null and void if we're allowed to play again" Pip

I'd love Matej Zagar though, if he sorts himself out !
