ML - I don't think I'd go as far as calling Cookie a "bully boy", He was bullying the referee. Whether he thought he could get a way with it because the ref was female I don't know but in my book the way he went on was bullying.

Lots of nominations this week and so far Mr Cook from Lakeside is just in front but, and it's a very big but, there is still time before I announce the winner for someone to wrestle the crown from Mr J Cook.
This week I'm giving Belle Vue a rest, hard not to seeing as they haven't rode, so I am nominating those folk who continually swipe and moan at the coverage from Sky. I don't belong to the 'be grateful they show it' brigade but when a decent meeting like last night's British Final is broadcast and all people can comment on is the 'annoying commentators' then they are watching a different channel from the rest of us.
Go and lie down in a darkened room you feckin flapperjacks.

Ah, but there is an F1 GP, so any number of flapperjacks could come out of that one.

He was bullying the referee. Whether he thought he could get a way with it because the ref was female I don't know but in my book the way he went on was bullying. To be fair, having seen Ms Turnbull, she doesn't strike me as the sort of lady who would be easily bullied anywhere. In a fight between her and Cookie, I know who my money would be on. And it ain't him.

And it ain't him. Precisely. Christina Turnbull can stick up for herself - it's not as if she's a helpless old granny. Meanwhile, Cookie made a wally of himself by acting in a chavanistic manner towards a female ref - no more, no less. It was hardly bullying though.

More patronising than bullying.
Cook basically showed a complete lack of respect for the official.

More patronising than bullying. Cook basically showed a complete lack of respect for the official. Since he was being patronsing, he should have done it properly and told Christina to come down to the pits after the meeting to wash up his tea mug, and then given her a mop to clean out the showers

I would like to nominate former Reading Racers promoter Mark Legg, who it seems is Reading's very own Colin Horton Genghis you're worthy of a nomination yourself for that, unless of course you can elaborate on your nomination, or are you also just taking the word of a 2 bit comic writer as gospel? Almost as bad as Horton, you're having a fucking laugh, at least we saw the season out and if there are debts outstanding, it won't be a drop in the ocean to the shit Horton left Oxford in. I dare say there is some truth in the story, but until the full facts are known I won't be condeming anyone. Pissed off really that the story has probably come from someone close to the club who probably claims to be Reading thru & thru as well. I've said elsewhere Wellie can't be hard to track down. Probably propped up behind his bar in Swindon as I type this, if Mark Legg couldn't be contacted why wasn't Wellie the next step rather than the press? Story is just another nail in Reading Speedway's coffin and unfortunately there seems plenty of people waiting to have a go at hammering it in too.

Wacks, Reading Speedway need the help of the council if they are to get a new stadium. Unpaid debts by your last promoter are the last thing that are needed.
I'm most surprised that you are sticking up for Legg, given the damage he has done to Reading Speedway. The newspaper would not have printed a story of that nature without checking out their sources.

I'm not sticking up for anyone Genghis, like i said I'm not going to condem anyone on the basis of an article by Dave Wright - who doesn't rank very highly in my list of sports journalists. Yep, there probably is some debts outstanding, but how much and who to - the story was all a bit ambiguous to me, and seems like the info was provided by someone within the club who's a bit pissed off.
The way its written you'd have thought Mark Legg had run off with an amount akin to the Brinx Matt roberty. Flapperjack can't even get the league we raced in last season correct, doesn't that go somehow to show how much checking he does?
