I dare say he would have found some excuse to pull out, he invariably does. Crump is a regular at testimonial/open meetings in the UK, he's normally the first to put his name down. You can accuse Crumpie of some things, but when it comes to meetings like this, he's one of the best riders around (second in line to Johno, who is almost an ever-present at testimonial meetings ;D ) Wacks, I'm driving tonight, so I'm not drunk. I'm just on a natrual high at the prospect of seeing Oxford back on track, and kicking Wacky Racer arse.

I'm very grateful that the Swindon promotion are giving me the opportunity to see some ex-Racers line up wearing the winged wheel again, even if it is just a one off. I'll be there tonight in my Oxford Cheetahs top and jacket. Sartorial elegance or what.....

The Abbey Stadium hosted the re-arranged Four Team Tournament last night and an enthusiastic crowd were treated to a masterclass from their local heroes.
The Robins saw off competition from Cradley Heathens, Oxford Cheetahs and Reading Racers to claim bragging rights in the region.
However, there was a brief scare for Robins fans ahead of next week’s Elite League play-offs when Paul Hurry fell in heat seven - aggravating an existing rib injury.
Robins boss Alun Rossiter is hopeful though that the Robins reserve will recover in time for Monday night’s play-off semi-final against Coventry.
He said: “The throttle snapped in his (Hurry’s) hand and dug into his rib which is the rib he’s been having trouble with.
“He struggled and he went on to see if he could cope with but he’ll let me know and fingers crossed he’ll be ok.
“So he’s aggravated it and he’s going to go and have some treatment on it.
“It’s too soon to tell. We’ve got our number eight Cory (Gathercole) ready to come in if needs be but hopefully we won’t need him and hopefully Paul will be fit and ready to go on Monday.”
Leigh Adams led from the front for the triumphant Robins, winning each of his four races while teammate Simon Stead added seven points.
In last-minute changes to the orignal line-ups, injured Jason Crump was replaced in the Oxford Cheetahs’ side by Troy Batchelor. Meanwhile Cameron Woodward stepped in for Cradley’s Darcy Ward and Lewis Bridger did the same for Oxford’s Niels Kirstian Iversen.
After Patrick Hougaard crashed into the air fence in the first, Robins Morten Risager held off Hans Andersen in the final lap to take the re-run.
In the second heat, Cradley Heath’s Adam Shields led from start to finish, seeing off Mads Korneliussen, Steve Johnston and Sweetman respectively.
Robins asset Batchelor flew to victory in three, taking the chequered flag ahead of Stead, who passed Travis McGowan on lap two with Corey Gathercole in fourth.
Adams cruised to victory in his first ride with Oxford’s Bridger taking second and Woodward third.
In the fifth race Cradley’s Shields emerged from a first-bend battle with a lead over Batchelor which he saw through to the line.
Korneliussen stormed from the tape to take an early lead in race six.
However, Andersen swept inside the Robin on the second bend and sped home for victory.
Concerns were raised when Robins rider Hurry went down on the first bend of race seven and was seen to by paramedics for several minutes. Hurry’s bike appeared to stop underneath him but he eventually got to his feet and completed the meeting.
In an exciting re-run Stead and Matej Zagar, riding a tactical for Reading, exchanged places on the third lap before Stead beat his Robins teammate to the line.
Adams breezed to his second success of the evening in the eighth heat, the Australian pipping Johnston in second and Gathercole in third.
Zagar notched the Reading’s first win of the meet as he held off the challenges of Gathercole, riding a tactical for Oxford, and Brider. Swindon failed to score for the first time as Risager ended last.
Batchelor extended his terrific run of finsishes with victory in heat 10, the youngster sneaking past Hougaard on the opening bend before leaving the Dane and Swindon’s Korneliussen behind in style.
Race 11 went to a restart after Reading captain Lemon fell moments after the tape.
Lemon was reinstated for the re-run but could not make an impression on the race as Andersen took the win.
A few Robins nerves were comforted when Hurry returned to race in heat 12 but the Brit fell again on the second lap. He was able to get back on his bike, however, and managed to secure a point when McGowan hit the air fence on the third lap and the race was awarded with Adams and Sheilds in first and second respectively.
A superb final lap manouevre earned Korneliussenvictory in the 13th heat.
Lemon had held the Dane back superbly until Korneliussen cut inside Reading’s former Robin on the penultimate corner to steal the win.
In heat 14, Woodward rode brilliatly to claim the victory. After a poor start, Robins’ Risager passed Johnston into third place on lap two but he could not catch second-placed McGowan before the line.
Cradley’s Shields concluded his excellent individual contribution with victory in heat 15 while in the all-star final Adams completed his fourth win of the night seeing off Andersen.
Robins now turn their attentions to Monday night’s Elite League Play-off semi-final at Coventry.www.thisiswiltshire.co.uk/sportDid you all have a good night?

Had a great night after bumping into some old friends from Swindon (never knew they liked speedway!), didn't see much speedway though probably not a bad thing when looking at the results. Hope Paul Hurry is ok, nasty crash be a shame if that ruled him out of the play-offs

Did you all have a good night? Yes, the reaction from the fans made the night. Saw people from Oxford I hadn't seen in years. ;D The crowd was big enough for Gary Patchett (when interviewed during the interval) to promise to put on a similar meeting next year. ;D And we beat those Wacky Racers down into last place.

Revenge will be sweet next year Genghis.
At least we started off shite and got better, rather than the way your lot went. Was a bit disappointed Zagar didn't go off 15M in his first heat, but it was a nice touch to see him turn out in his old Ideal Video Reading Racers kevlars for the event.

Oxford Mail report for the meeting:
SPEEDWAY: Oxford Cheetahs third on return to track
OXFORD Cheetahs finished third in their four-team tournament at Swindon’s Abbey Stadium last night, writes ROBERT PEASLEY.
The crowd, which exceeded all expectations, was estimated at 2,000 – with an impressive number of Oxford fans in attendance.
Swindon owner Gary Patchett plans to stage a similar meeting again next year.
Niels-Kristian Iversen withdrew from the Cheetahs team at the last minute, without giving a reason for his absence. He was replaced by Eastbourne’s Lewis Bridger.
Cheetahs were third after eight races, but Bridger came out as a tactical ride on double points in heat nine and passed Cory Gathercole on the final lap to snatch second place.
And Troy Batchelor then won heat ten to bring Cheetahs into the joint lead with Swindon on 19 points.
But they were unable to maintain that momentum throughout the rest of the meeting, adding just a single point in the last six races. Leigh Adams won the meeting for Swindon by coming from third to first in a scintillating final race.
Paul Hurry continued in the meeting, despite a nasty fall on the second turn of heat seven, after a mechanical problem.
RESULT Swindon Robins 32 (Adams 12, Stead 8, Korneliussen 8, Risager 4), Cradley Heathens 29 (Andersen 10, Shields 11, Woodward 5, Gathercole 3), Oxford Cheetahs 20 (Batchelor 8, Bridger 7, Johnston 3, Hurry 2), Reading Racers 19 (Zagar 8, Hougaard 4, McGowan 3, Lemon 4, Sweetman 0).
