Yep heard about the re-staging on local sports news today. Swindon get Adams in the revised line up, Reading get Zagar, and Oxford get Johnno. Seems fair enough to me. ;D At least Johno will turn up.

He'll turn up, it'll be getting him out of the bar that's the problem

okay, what have you taken? Lovely fresh air. Which is even fresher knowing that the legendary Steve "Johno" Johnston will again be riding for Oxford.

I won't reply to each individual message but Hancock, Hamill, Penhall (I'll let you have Bobby) and Les Collins and I'll be happy enough ;D And Greg never missed a Cradley meeting for anything other than genuine injury or World Championship qualifying rounds Realistically I'm not sure who will be ready. Another 7 or 8 weeks yet? Shields may be around (Im sure this will top of the priorities ) - would be nice because he's been a favourite of mine for a few years. Fryer would be nice, than it's a struggle to keep the team Elite League competitive and retail a connection. Greg or Billy would be a coup but if either of them are passing I'm sure they'd be up for it, Stuart Swales is still riding. I'll get the thinking cap on..... And less of the intelligible Ghengis ode mucka

WE'VE ONLY GOT BLOODY CRUMPIE RIDING FOR US ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm lost ! when did Crump ride for Oxford ? 1998. He finished 8th in the world, won the British GP, topped Oxford's averages with a 9.54 average and punched team-mate Todd Wiltshire at Cowley one night.

Was Todd's first night as a Cheetah was it no Genghis? That's still the one thing that really stops me being proper Crumpie fan. I appreciate his skill and know he's calmed down a lot and grown up a lot these days, but I just can't quite forgive him for what he did to Todd that night.

Oxford Press Release:
CRUMP LEADS CHEETAHS AT SWINDON WORLD Champion-elect Jason Crump will make a rare British appearance to lead the Oxford Cheetahs in their four team tournament at Swindon, which has now been rescheduled for Thursday, September 17 at 7.30pm.
And fellow Australian Steve Johnston will join Crump in the Cheetahs line-up.
The meeting, which also features teams from fellow homeless tracks Reading and Cradley Heath, was originally due to be held two weeks ago, but was put back after a number of injuries and international call-ups decimated the line-up.
Crump is the biggest name in World Speedway. He won the World Championship in 2004 & 2006 and is currently the runaway leader of the Grand Prix series, where he holds a massive 29-point lead over second-placed Greg Hancock.
The Bristol-born Australian rode for Oxford during the 1998 season. Crump was a precocious young talent at the time and he headed Oxford's scoring that season, racking up 434 points from 32 meetings, as well as landing the British GP at Coventry.
Since then Crump, now aged 34, has matured into the best rider of his generation. He has won a record 21 Grand Prix rounds, and he has finished in the overall top three in the Grand Prix series every season since 2001.
Steve Johnston is also set to ride for the Cheetahs at Swindon. Johno spent five consecutive years riding for the Cheetahs from 1998 to 2002 and was captain of the side that won the 2001 Sky Sports Elite League.
The all-action Johnston returned to Oxford in 2007, where his form was one of the few bright spots before the shock mid-season withdrawal of the Cheetahs from the Elite League that season. He is now the leading light at Premier League Somerset, as well as a regular on Sky Sports’ speedway coverage.
Meeting organiser and Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett said: "Jason Crump is not riding in British league speedway in 2009. Therefore, his inclusion in the Oxford squad is sure to capture the imagination not just of the Cheetahs' faithful, but also the wider speedway fraternity.
“I’m also delighted to be able to confirm Steve Johnston in the Oxford side. I wanted Johno in all along, but he was riding for Somerset on the original date. He’s one of the great characters in the sport and I know he is a firm favourite with the Cheetahs fans."
Other confirmed riders for the four team tournament are Leigh Adams for Swindon and Matej Zagar for Reading.

I'm hearing good things about the line up for this one again now, I think Adam Shields is in for us and the rumour is that we need a top line guy to match Crumpie and Leigh - and there is only 1 man who fits that bill with a Cradley connection (that would be a Monster announcement ;D)

HANS ANDERSEN is the latest confirmed starter for September’s Four-Team Tournament at the Abbey Stadium. The Danish international, currently riding for Poole in the Elite League, slots into the Cradley Heath quartet for the meeting, which also sees squads from Swindon, Reading and Oxford take to the track. Andersen has identified compatriot and former Cradley Heath favourite Erik Gundersen as a huge influence on his speedway career. Indeed, Andersen’s racing kevlars are modelled on the yellow and white leathers that Gundersen so famously sported in the 1980s. Andersen joins Jason Crump, Matej Zagar, Leigh Adams and Steve Johnston as a confirmed starter for the meeting, which takes place on Thursday 17 September. www.swindon-speedway.co.uk
