Of course it's not only the Oxford team thats a farce but i highlighted their line up due to their number one fans previous post. I think they're quite representative of Oxford, actually - one half decent rider, one nutcase and the rest are bloody awful. Halcyon days. Behave. Crump's absence is a big blow, but we all saw his nasty crash on Monday and that's speedway. Riders, unfortunately, do get hurt. Much less impressed with Iversen. If he can't come up with a valid reason as to why he's missing tonight, then he's an ex-favourite of mine.

Hope this meeting is a success, I have a soft spot for Oxford who became a sort of second home in 1996, when the Lynn licence squatted there for a season. Met some nice Oxford fans too

Yeah, I'm sure their reason for withdrawing Ward was because Bridger and Batchelor are in the Oxford team. Maybe, maybe not Grachan but with the play-offs and possible meetings with Poole or Belle Vue to come why would Lynn want to risk Ward for a meeting that is becoming more meaningless by the hour. Of course it's not only the Oxford team thats a farce but i highlighted their line up due to their number one fans previous post. The meeting isn't meaningless if you're a Reading, Oxford or Cradley fan! The Chapmans can shove it up their arse, I hope they choke in the PL play-offs. Swindon are still fighting for the league title and yet have 8 riders from their current squad lining up tonight. Teams don't look a farce to me. For a challenge meeting the line up is very strong and relevant to the clubs participating? Reading is made up of all fairly recent former Racers. Cradley really have no links to current riders but have Adam Shields who has a family connection to the club and Hans Andersen who's speedway hero is a Heathens legend. Oxford riders were all linked until injury and an unexpected withdrawal changed their side. I'm very grateful that the Swindon promotion are giving me the opportunity to see some ex-Racers line up wearing the winged wheel again, even if it is just a one off. If we win tonight, I might even consider supporting Swindon in the play-off's. ;D

Have Bridger and Batchelor who lets remember was initially in the Swindon four, even been to the services on the outskirts of Oxford ? Face facts Genghis your being mugged off, and for the record the Crump inclusion was always going to end in tears.

At the end of the day it appears that there has been some sort of East Anglian conspiracy to fuck up this meeting - and if so then it's a shame that there have been no forthcoming explanations as to why that is the case. (Is Peterborough East Anglia? It is now.) Oxford have been on the unfortunate end of that. The Crump situation is, obviously, a different matter and unavoidable. I feel sorry for Gary Patchett. This meeting appears to have been a labour of love this year, and things have constantly been flung in his face to make it difficult. It's an attractive meeting. I don't see why promoters can't just work together to make things work. It all seems very small minded.

Wacks is right about the line-up, it is very decent but it should be turned into an individual event, and there are far to few of those at Elite level.

for the record the Crump inclusion was always going to end in tears. Well, it wouldn't have done but for his injury on Monday night, would it? Anyway, you can't dampen my spirits today. Give me a C-H-E-E-T-A-H-S, who's going stuff the other three teams tonight? ;D ;D

Gary obviously has put a lot of effort into this meeting - his PR shows how passionate he is about making it exciting and meaningful for the fans. But that's the whole problem with speedway, and has been for some time now - too much self interest and not looking at the bigger picture. And also this "ownership" of riders, and dictating where and when they can ride doesn't seem fair to me.

How would an individual event appeal to Reading Oxford or CH fans? Tonight is really all about 3 clubs who aren't fortunate enough to be racing every week get back out on track and give their fans something to cheer about.

As for who'se going to stuff the other 3 teams tonight, it's it a bit early in the day for you to start drinking?

It wouldn't Wacks, but how anyone could find appeal in watching a Swindon rider, and two young lads who probably don't even know where Oxford is, ride for them is beyond me. But then speedway fans are so happy to have the piss taken out of them i'm not surprised. Genghis would probably be in raptures cheering for coco the clown on a uni-cycle if he was wearing a Leopards bib.

It's just like supporting a guest rider lining up for your team Hatcham and that happens often enough in british speedway
