I have Zagar and KK just below Nicholls, if that makes it any better. Nicholls puts in far more effort than Zagar, and KK had a very disappointing 2008. Harris I'd probably have around 30th. I suppose we all have our own criterion for selecting our top 20 and that clearly differs as much as the riders we select But whichever which you look at it, it's pretty depressing for British Speedway when a poll of British fans places the highest-placed British rider in 14th place. I wonder if the Polish fans would have a single British rider in the top 30, given the wealth of home talent they have to choose from. Of course, the Swedes are following us by filling their leagues with foreign riders, so in a few years, they could be in a similar boat. I'm making the most of my trips over there while their leagues are still flourshing, because I'm not sure how long that will last.

BRITISH speedway bosses remain hopeful of naming their new national team manager by the weekend. Swindon boss Alun Rossiter has been hotly tipped for the role, and media speculation indicates that King's Lynn's Rob Lyon is the other name in the frame in what appears a two-man race. Rossiter would be the man with current and recent experience of working with the riders who would be involved in a World Cup campaign - whilst Lyon has an enviable record of success and trophies at Premier League level. BSPA chairman Pete Toogood said: "We have been impressed by all the candidates for the role, and we thank those who have been in touch to express their interest and enthusiasm for taking over the national role. "It's unfair for me at this point to comment on individual candidates, but there have been reasons why the procedure has been held up. "We held more talks with the two shortlisted individuals late last week and at the start of this week, and I remain very hopeful a final decision can be reached this week." www.speedwayworld.tv

According to today's Daily Star Rosco will be unveiled as GB Boss within 72 hours.
And we all know who writes the speedway articles for the Star don't we?

According to today's Daily Star Rosco will be unveiled as GB Boss within 72 hours. And we all know who writes the speedway articles for the Star don't we? Yes, Peter Oakes, who claimed time after time that the SWC race off and final in 2009 would be at Brandon. And what happened to that little one? Brandon isn't even hosting the British round. And while I have no animus against Rosco, have the BSPA considered that he won't have Leigh Adams to turn to in the SWC?

Oh, just give the job to Rosco. At least he'll be sacked by the time we have a half-decent team again. At the moment, there's nothing to throw away - we're rubbish anyway.

The Swedes are very very close to being as poor as GB, and there are clearly extremely tough days ahead for the Aussies, for whom the future looks particularly bleak.

Can we confirm your definition of a 'half-decent team' involves, two fat boys, two wasters and an excuse maker ?

Of course the job should go to Rosco, all other candidates are either clueless or devoid of personality. Rob Lyon clearly would be the better man for the job, but I think we should wait and bring him in once we've got a half-decent team. In the meantime, at least the clown Rosstier will create a little amusement, as the national team is being humiliated.

And that's why he's never been world champion? You should know by now that Nicki can do no wrong and is simply the best.
