your right why would they waste their money on a job to teach nicholls to ride Not sure what your point is Nicholls is unquestionably Britains greatest current rider. I don't think "greatest" is quite the word. Maybe, just not as bad as the rest would be a more apt description. It's sad that I am just working out the best 20 riders in the world and there won't be a single British rider in it.

Schumi - Nicholls is in my list of 5 riders who just missed out (as is Chris Harris), but I doubt if I would list Richardson in my top 40 let alone top 20. Richardson was comical in both the World Cup and the GP Challenge last year. In world class company he just can't hack it.

Currently in typical Weird world style our top 20 contains 21 names, lets hope we have more votes(any from Peterborough would be nice)

Your opinion Genghis, which you are entitled to, as is Schumi. As you're entitled to yours, so where is it? I assume you're leaving yours to last, so that you can look at the standings and get Scottie as high as possible?

Currently in typical Weird world style our top 20 contains 21 names Interesting, and gives the list some credence. Everyone having Nicki P as their number one is also pleasing.

Nicholls picked up 11 points from me, the same as he received from KevH and Badge, he is currently in 14th place, i have absolutely no intention of manipulating anything Genghis and am offended by the suggestion. Despite my current avatar, i'm sure your well aware i am not a particular supporter of the British champion, i just find the witch hunt against him unfair.

Not quite correct Schumster, the Snypee fellow only allotted your hero 16 points so currently Nicki's total stands at 176 out of a possible 180

Until last August, I often defended Nicholls. And what did he do? Failed to turn up at the ELRC. For no good reason. I don't think that's right for a British rider, and as a consequence, I'm not at all bothered that he hasn't chosen to ride in Britain in 2009. But where's the witch hunt? I can't see one. Incidentally, I am pleased that Nicholls is riding at Sheffield for the Ben Fund meeting. And that he name-checked the wonderful Lawrence Hare as a reason for riding in the meeting. As for being offended by the suggestion, don't be daft. Especially as you suggested I would do the very same thing. I think you need a few more glasses of wine.

Not quite correct Schumster, the Snypee fellow only allotted your hero 16 points so currently Nicki's total stands at 176 out of a possible 180 Yes, but he has Lindgren in 8th and Hancock above the World Champ, so I'm wondering if he did it randomly rather than in order. Snyper, what's the matter with you? For the record, the other two I have ranked above Nicholls are Jagus and Karlsson.

Snyper, what's the matter with you? We'd need a whole new forum to detail that Schumi.

I think Nicholls as around the 23rd best rider in the world would be a fair assessment. I didn't rank the five who nearly made my list (Nicholls, Harris, Kasprzak, Zagar and Sullivan).

I have Zagar and KK just below Nicholls, if that makes it any better. Nicholls puts in far more effort than Zagar, and KK had a very disappointing 2008.
Harris I'd probably have around 30th.

I suppose we all have our own criterion for selecting our top 20 and that clearly differs as much as the riders we select

It's hard, isn't it? But I do think I've been fair. Had it been a "most exciting rider" poser, my list would have been totally different.
