It seems the BSPA offered the post to Chris Louis, who turned it down, sensible man . What does this say about the BSPA's attittude towards Rosco who I understand applied for the job? If Rosco is now appointed will that mean he is second choice? I really don't have any idea who should or should not get the job, cos IMO there is no one who is brave enough at present to stand up to the BSPA and tell them the truth....that until they get their arses into gear and put resources into young Brits they will never see Team GB on top of a rostrum. Having said that I would prefer a manager who is not "one of the lads" i.e. enjoys going out on the town with the team immediately prior to an event. Afterwards....no problem ;D Edited for spelling for the pedants amongst us ;D

Chris Morton has turned it down too, according to Speedway Star.
Rosco might get a lot of stick from certain quarters, but at least he has the desire to do it so fair play to him.

I read a really good article recently about how the lower a person's intelligence level, the more likely they were to think they were capable of doing a job they were completely unsuitable for....The basis of the article was that stoopid people are actually so stoopid that they don't realise just how stoopid they are. Of course, I'm not making any statement about Alun, I'm just making conversation!

I think it's wiser to know when not to accept a job, than to have misplaced self-belief. Apart from the fact that anyone who does the 'Team GB' job is on hiding-to-nothing because of the structural problems within the sport, Rosco simply isn't a very good team manager.

the flip side being that you might be a very good league manager but still not be able to motivate a team of mediocre riders into believing in themselves on the international stage.
someone that is determined and desperate to do a job might just turn out to be the right person if he can get that desire across to the riders.
when 'Team' GB came 2nd 3 or 4 years ago, it wasn't because Middlo was great, it was because Norris changed the whole mentality of the squad into riders that needed to win

You're joking. How does the only person in the entire history of the universe to have been tactically outwitted by the golem Swales end up as Team GB boss. True, it's not quite as bad as appointing Rosco, but it's not far off.
