I don't know about everyone else but I came away from Sundays meeting in a more positive state of mind then when I arrived. It is disappointing but not surprising that the normal stirrers are at it again on BSF .

Batchelor Stays Loyal THURSDAY, 03 MARCH 2011 11:07 Peterborough asset Troy Batchelor has shown great loyalty to his parent club according to manager Trevor Swales. The 23-year-old Australian is set to miss out on British Speedway if the Panthers are unable to gain a place back in the Elite League this year. If the Panthers are allowed back in then Batchelor has been promised a team place. Speaking to Peterborough Today, Swales said: "I have been very impressed by the loyalty Troy has shown towards the club. He has put the club before his own need to earn a living." "Right from day one this winter Troy has maintained that he is not interested in riding anywhere other than at Peterborough and that has never changed." "I hope that if and when we get back in, and if and when Troy has a place in the team, everyone shows their appreciation to him." Thursday is decision day for Panthers By Mark Plummer Published on Wednesday 9 March 2011 09:17 Peterborough Panthers will definitely discover on Thursday (10 March) whether they will race in 2011 . . . and things are looking promising. The city speedway club and fellow exiles, reigning champions Coventry, believe they have struck an ‘informal agreement’ which could allow tham to make a dramatic return to Elite League action a month after being told they would not compete this year. Coventry co-promoter Allen Trump, who has worked alongside lawyers representing both the Bees and Panthers throughout the winter, revealed the latest development ahead of a general council meeting of the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) tomorrow. Panthers and Coventry will hope to see their compromise agreement ratified at the BSPA’s Rugby headquarters before the bosses of other Elite and Premier League clubs are likely to vote on whether they should be granted an 11th hour return. Trump (right) told The Evening Telegraph: “When I spoke at the fans’ event at Peterborough 10 days ago I felt it was evenly-matched whether we would get back in. “It is virtually impossible to predict what will happen but I do now feel the odds are marginally in the favour of the two clubs. “We have an informal agreement that we at Coventry are happy with and Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney are happy with at the Peterborough end. Obviously that is somewhat benign until such time as it is ratified on Thursday. “We have given a bit but that is something we are prepared to do and, for the good of speedway, let’s hope we are back in. “One thing that is certain is that we will definitely leave the meeting tomorrow with an answer. It cannot be pushed back any further with the season about to start.” The future of Panthers and Coventry - two of the biggest clubs in the sport in this country - has been in the balance since their representatives walked out of the BSPA annual meeting back in November. The two clubs were united against a number of rule changes and the way the sport is governed. A number of potential deals to see them return have fallen through during the following months but there remains hope they can race on. www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk:80/sport/speedway/thursday_is_decision_day_for_panthers_1_2481092

Panthers will quickly put a team together if given a reprieve By Mark Plummer Published on Thursday 10 March 2011 09:06 Speedway: Peterborough Panthers insist they will not be caught napping if granted a dramatic late inclusion into the Elite League. The city club and fellow exiles Coventry are set to learn at a British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) general council meeting today whether or not they will line-up in the top-flight this year. And should they get the green light to race on, Panthers will be in a position to assemble a team based around a number of their assets pretty quickly. Panthers director of speedway Peter Oakes said: “We would expect to have the bulk of a team sorted within 48 to 72 hours. “There are a number of our assets who have not signed elsewhere. “Troy Batchelor has said that Peterborough is the only place he wants to ride while people like Krzysztof Buczkowski, Norbert Kosciuch and Linus Sundstrom are waiting at the end of a phone. “That is the makings of a team which would need to be top and tailed. “What we have to remember is that it won’t be anything like the team we were initially planning.” Representatives of Panthers and Coventry will not be in attendance at the BSPA meeting where other clubs will vote on their future. www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/speedway/panthers_will_quickly_put_a_team_together_if_given_a_reprieve_1_2485640
