The FIM need a large pointed, studded boot up their arse. Total fiasco! Why ? because they are trying to push through a silencer that could be the saviour of British speedway

Why ? because they are trying to push through a silencer that could be the saviour of British speedway To play devils advocate here, I don't think many will argue against the new silencer being a good thing, but the way the governing bodies of speedway (and I include Sweden and Poland in this) have gone about trying to get them introduced, is shoddy to say the least! I understand that Sweden - having indicated that they weren't going to use it this season - are now having a rethink. The BSPA have pushed their date back for the introduction, and many think it's unlikely they will get introduced at all this season. I am led to believe that one of the main producers of them has stopped production altogether. I don't know whether all this is a result of the riders not allowing themselves enough time for testing, or whether the governing bodies have tried to push it through too quickly. Either way, speedway doesn't exactly come out of this glowing. All IMVHO of course

The new silencers weren't readily available to purchase from what I understood over the winter... They had to be made up to order, essentially. Over here, at least - as it was a new design it was being made for demand, as it were. They're also more expensive than the old ones, though I haven't actually 'heard' the new one in comparison to old to comment more. It was pushed through too fast IMO - if they decided to use them they should have allowed them as well as the others (I forget all the technical details of exactly what ones are allowed etc), and if they had to bring them in, do it after a season of allowing riders to test / enough to be made up and so on.

The main complaint for the riders is the heat they generate. Not only does it damage their bikes, but they say it's dangerous, and will only get worse as the weather gets warmer.

The date on the Swedish leagues is wrong - they can use the old ones until the 1st June.
