So with Lewis "I'm ill... er no, I've lost my passport... er no, my hamster is sick" Bridger having been selected by the delightful Star Lady, we move onto a fresh week.
And it's a big week in speedway, with the most important fixture of the season taking place on Thursday. Yes, it's the four team tournament at Blunsdon between the 42-years and still waiting Robins and three much more succesful yet sadly defunct teams - the mighty and glorious Oxford Cheetahs; that lot from the rubbish dump; and that lot from the Black Country who no-one can understand.
There's also some two-bit meeting taking place in Latvia on Saturday night - which is almost bound to be an anti-climax after Thursday's jewel-in-the-crown.
Wibblemuis, would you like to pick the winner next Saturday?

A non speedway nomination :- The Renault F! racing team for firstly not securing the wheel on Alonso's car, then compounding the sin by not informing the driver when it was clear they knew (FFS the BBC commentary team knew) and thirdly (in my eyes the biggest sin) actually appealing against the decision to suspend them from the next GP. Seems they haven't heard of the fatality caused by a flying wheel and the serious injury caused to Massa - self interest rules for them cos the next GP is Alonso's home GP.

Another non-speedway nomination for whoever sent Casey Stoner & Nicky Haydon out on full wets at a rapidly drying Donnington park circuit yesterday afternoon.

I can't say about Hayden but Stoner admitted himself that HE decided to go with the wet tyres despite his crew chief advising otherwise. So i guess your nomination should read - Casey Stoner - for being a plonker!!!! ;D

Even better ;D He's increasingly becoming a bigger flapperjack as his title slips away, the bloke does nothing but whinge!
My mate got a sunburnt face at Donny this weekend, but I reckon Stoners' face was redder when Rossi, Dovi then half the field lapped him yesterday ;D

Without even turning a wheel my vote goes to Chris Morton for using the R/R at No.5.
First heat for R/R Vs Holder/Boxall Second Heat Vs Davidsson/Pedersen Third Heat Vs Andersen/Screen Fourth Heat Vs Andersen/Holder
Those little four heats should secure erm about 2 points I reckon. What a Flapperjack.

The Chuckle Brothers at Armadale again . Charging £18 admission for the Scotish Open . And it is just a field full of Northern based PL riders .

They must be charging a premium for Jonasson attending, if he does attend, which I guess depends on whether he can think of something else he'd rather be doing. Like going to the dentist. By the way, after the "racing" at Armadale last Friday I wouldn't pay 18p to watch.

Think i'll pass even if the Messiah is riding .

The usual charge is £14 - whether you regard that as normal or abnormal is down to personal preference.

Ironically that line up should be very competitive with no real out and out favourite but for 18 quid? ? I skipped it last year and i know many are saying they will this year due to the inevitable withdrawls at the last minute which have blighted it over the years. Similar comments to above were made on another forum and this is the response from JDC "I did not wish to get involved in this discussion because everyone has their own opinions on what is on offer and how it should be priced. I've send in the past, and I'll repeat just now, we set our prices at Armadale to give us a reasonable chance of breaking even and in that way we'll be back next week, next month and next year. The prize money paid to the riders at this year's Open will be a substantial five figure sum and more than double what we pay for a normal league meeting. We have to balance this sum with the amounts we raise in sponsorship for the event and pitch our admission prices accordingly. We are in a no win situation with regard to the field. Last year we invited Rory Schlein, a popular choice, but a rider who absolutely dominated the meeting and was an obvious winner before the start. We also invited other Elite league riders who, at the last minute decided they couldn't be bothered or went for bigger money elsewhere. It became a nightmare trying to get replacements at the last minute. Dozens and dozens of phone calls. This year we took a conscious decision to make the field wide open, inviting riders who had done well on our track before, giving every rider in the line up a chance to take the top prize. We hope that this will produce better racing than last year's event. We also believe that, barring injury, the riders we have announced will turn up to enetertain you on the night. This year's Open is part of the Homecoming event being promoted by the Scottish Parliament. We will be presenting a very Scottish evening with lots of fun, fireworks, giveaways to the early arrivals and much more. We have, and will continue to, put a great deal of effort into the event to make it a night to remember. Despite what some people are suggesting on this thread, we still see the Scottish Open to be the biggest event on our annual calendar and we hope to make it a very special night next week." I guess as part of the homecoming Snyper will be there giving us his take on scottish dancing and gaelic poety.

The usual charge is £14 - whether you regard that as normal or abnormal is down to personal preference. I would regard that as a wee bit pricy for PL. Perhaps its good I didn't quite make it to Armadale t'other week, not sure if I'd have had enough for entry, programme and decent food.
