Above quote from Rob B on the BSF. If true then Lewis has a wee bit of explaining to do.

I back the nomination of either Bridger or Eastbourne - whoever was responsible for Bridger (a British rider) riding in Poland ahead of his home country.

Hmm... Lewis or those people getting their collective polyester y-fronts in a right royal twist over Tai Woffinden appearing in the Aussie pits on Sunday. Tough call.

I can't trawl thro all the Bridger thread so can anyone tell me
1) did the BSPA give Eastie a facility to cover his absence and on what grounds 2) Has any penalty been imposed on Bridger by the authorities and/or Eastbourne.

Here's the report from The Argus:
Lewis Bridger claimed a lost passport prevented him from racing for Eastbourne Eagles at Belle Vue last night.
Bridger was due to take a 5.50am flight from Poland and join his colleagues in Manchester.
Instead he told team manager Trevor Geer he could not make the meeting and later scored three points for Czestochowa at Bydgoszcz in the Polish Ekstraliga.
Initial reports suggested Bridger had pulled out through illness but he said: “I left my passport in my jacket in a restaurant on Sunday night.
“The restaurant didn’t open until nine in the morning. In the end they had to get the passport to me at Bydgoszcz by taxi.”
Bridger – who could now face a 28-day suspension from the Elite League and landed Eagles with a £300 fine – insisted the move was not pre-planned and said he had no idea where reports of an illness had come from.
He added: “I phoned the English federation to tell them about the passport. I never even thought I’d get start permission in Poland.”
Bridger’s ‘no show’ left the visitors fielding a five man squad in Manchester, as they continue to deputise for the injured David Norris.
Boss Geer managed to draft in Premier League rider Lee Complin as a late replacement for the British Under-21 champion but despite the disruption Eagles still put on a spirited display as they went down 49-41 at Kirkmanshulme Lane.
In fact, Eastbourne were unlucky not to come away with the points as they secured nine heat wins out of 15 and whittled down the home advantage to just four points after a team riding display courtesy of Lukas Dryml and Davey Watt in heat seven.
The gap was still four points with just three heats to go but despite a brave battle it was the Eagles bogey team who stole the victory and their third win against the Arlington club this season.
What the article doesn't say is that Complin wasn't allowed to ride as his average was too high.

Eastbourne didn't have a facility therefore, as yet, no penalty has been imposed. Presumably it's up to Eastbourne what to do with Bridger. No ban is applicable as long as the club don't use a facility. The fact that they didn't indicates to me that he'll get a belt from Uncle Bob but no ban.

Whilst Eastbourne could and I do stress the word could, face a penalty from the BSPA for fielding an understrength team.

Sportowefakty are reporting a 28 day ban for Bridger. This fromLewis' site: This is from Lewis's official website
Wednesday 22nd July '09: Due to his non-appearance for the Eastbourne Eagles at Belle Vue on Monday and subsequent appearance for Czestochowa in Poland, the BSPA have imposed a two match ban and substantial fine on Lewis with immediate effect. Lewis, and all at Team LBR, would like to offer their sincere apologies to his Eagles team-mates, the promotion at Eastbourne Speedway, his sponsors and, most importantly, the paying public who we have let down. Lewis's Dad and Grandad, Steve and Tony, are bitterly disappointed at the naive way Lewis was persuaded to race in Poland and are determined that steps are taken to prevent such things happening in future.

I really thought Lewis was getting past the dopey teenager stage, but sadly this does not appear to be the case after all

I would like to nominate the Edinburgh promotion and the Edinburgh evening news for the complete fuck up of a circus they run while trying to get news of the club out. the EEN quotes JDC as saying that the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed on the deal to bring in the THJ replacement yet not one of them has come to tell the fans who the fuck he is. This is becoming a very sorry state of affairs recently. The fans seem to be getting spoon fed bullshit and are expected to just sit back and take it. While in the mean time JDC is making up cryptic clues for his centre green appearances. "Coopertion" between club and media my balls.
