I did wonder how confident Snyper is of having 100% Scottish blood running through his veins. I mean it'd be a real bugger if someone did his family tree and he found out he was as English as half of our popluation back a generation or two. Sorry Snyper...

There's virtually no such thing as Scottish blood, genetically speaking. I suspect the vast majority of Scots will have interbred with the English, Irish, Dutch and Scandinavians at some point, as indeed is the case with our lot. I think the telling thing is that 98% of the population speaks English as their native language.

Seems the English blood is more fucked up than the Scots eh. You have been the cum bucket of the world for many many centuries. Between Romans and Saxons plus Normans and Vikings.
As for my family tree i havent traced it accurately too far back but i know that as far back as my great, great, great grandparents were Scottish on both sides. So that is good enough for me until i can be bothered to do the rest.

You might turn out to be related to the Scots who fought at Culloden... on the side of the English.

My father was from Lisburn in Northern Ireland ( a good protestant stronghold ) and i have a picture of my Grandfather on my mother's side - resplendant in his sash and bowler hat . He was also an Ulsterman - so it's pretty obvious where my roots lie . ;D

I wouldnt mind tracing it all the way back to the 13th/14th century Scottish Wars of Independence etc.
Not likely to be very accurate mind you and would prob cost a bomb.

Depends on whether your family have always been local or moved around - and records that far back are awful to try and read. There are plenty of places you can get information for free (local library is always a good start), and loads of online sites too.

Thats why i said it will be very difficult schumi. Especially as records were not always kept and when they were, were not always accurate. Family names were put down as they were pronounced hence why you get quite a few spellings of some names.

Not likely to be very accurate mind you and would prob cost a bomb. I got back to before 1066 on the paternal side, and I don't think there are many (if any) missing links. We came from Normandy originally, and I recently managed to visit the village where we once ensconced. On the maternal side, I can get back to the 18th century without too much trouble (I haven't tried to go back further yet) - originating from the Western Highlands and Ulster. However, despite the Irish lot being Protestants, they have a traditionally Catholic name which suggests a switching of sides at some point in time. Anyway, the point is that it's ridiculous to try to suggest there's any sort of purity of race, and to be honest your derogatory comments about English geneticity (which are unfounded anyway), smacks of the kind of sinister views that used to be promoted back in the 1930s. I'm quite happy to be a bastard hybrid, because for one thing in-breeding is not good for health or longevity.
