Why isn't Tiger Louis up there? I think Sub might have him in speedways top ten spin doctors, but in all seriousness. was there EVER a period where Louis could have claimed to be Britains best ? let alone best ever. However in the spirit of fair play if you honestly believe him to be the best ever i'll include him.

I was actually taking the piss, but if the fact that he has been a world champion in the WTC and Pairs and highest placed Englishman on the World Final rostrum from 63-75, he might deserve a place on merit.

It would be a joke if anyone voted for him, he is in there simply as he is currently(maybe) Britains best. Its interesting that you have never heard of the first 4, i find it fascinating to see the different aspects of speedway that interest our members. Schumi loves Swedish speedway, with Sub its Poland, with Genghis its the Dibley Leopards, personally my interests are all pre 1950.

You have some controversial characters in there, hatcham. A rider who's had a drug conviction and was banned for endangering other riders, one who shot his wife before killing himself and one who most definitely shouldn't be there. It's hard to compare riders from different eras, and even harder when you think about them as a person as well as their achievements.
And no room for Wiggy?

I tried to list riders who were 'the best' for a decent length of time, as i said to Cornholio i'll happily list any others, including Simon Wigg(although i might need your help to ammend the poll) I appreciate its hard to judge different era's, in fact its impossible, but i would still like to hear people's views, personally i believe speedway today to be weaker than at any time since the late 20's, but thats just my opinion.

What a load of bollocks. How can Nicholls be included and Simon Wigg not? And don't start to harp on about British Championships, that means you're better only than your fellow Brits - I'm talking international achievements. Wiggy's international achievements: World No. 2 and twice more within the World's top 6 World Team Cup winner (1989) 5 x World Longtrack Champion Commonwelath Champion (1989) Nicholls: Erm... pass A completely fixed poll. I won't be voting.

I'm not sure it's weaker, although that's just my personal view, but what we do lack is character and controversy. Of course, most of the things that made some of these riders characters are arrestable offences these days!
I think perhaps that's why I sway toward the nutters in speedway (and I mean that in a good way, not as an insult) - Pedersen, Balinski, Sajfutdinov, Bridger, Piszcz, Gollob, etc. You never know quite what you're going to get when they're out on track, and that's what makes them so wonderfully exciting for me.
Unfortunately the polls can't be changed once they're started, but anyone can post if they have a different preferential rider. As for the choices above, I think I'm currently torn between Collins and Craven.

How on earth can Scott Nicholls, the laughing stock of world speedway, be considered a better rider than the late, great Simon Wigg. It's a huge insult to Wiggy's memory. Wiggy was a winner. Nicholls is a joke.

Genghis, Genghis, Genghis calm down old chap, i have explained twice why Nicholls is there, if you want to nominate/vote for Wigg then fine do so and it will be accepted, it will be interesting to see and hear the reasons for people's selections, it comes as no surprise to see Paulco vote for the rider he considers the best he has seen, and it will come as no surprise to see you vote for an ex Dibley rider. The sun is over the yard arm, go and have yourself a 'large one'
