I was soooo tempted to vote for Nicholls just to see the outraged reaction from Genghis when he saw that he had a vote As it is, I'll have to go with Collins as I rate him the top from that generation onwards, I have seen too little of previous generations to make an informed judgement.

Looks like I got that one well and truly wrong - Nicholls can't win a race in the GP, let alone a round. And my comments would have been before elrcgate. That was the moment when Nicholls let down the British supporters. Anyway, Hatcham I thought you might be over on the BSF wishing Jim Blanchard a happy birthday, so that he'll let you have back your West Ham avatar.

Yes but Nicholls being undeserving of a GP place refers to pre elrcgate, the last two years he has finished 8th(so qualified) and 9th did he not ? if they had been his only two GP seasons, very few people would have begrudged him a third season.

I suspect your not far off with your Blanshard / west ham link, Genghis as us New Cross boys always stick together, hence our "no-one like us we don't care" song.

But really by the time you get to your sixth and seventh GP seasons, you should be standing on your own two feet, should you not? Instead of being a cringeworthy national embarrassment. And how many GP rounds has Nicholls won in the last two seasons? I would have stood up for him, prior to elrcgate, simply for being British. But not any more.

And I was right all along. Yes but if you remember back to the BSF debates you had with the 'i love Scott brigade' i always agreed with you, Nicholls was a serial failure in the GP's should have been booted out, Genghis however supported him and only 'jumped on the Subedei train' two years ago, since then Nicholls two GP seasons have been far more successful.

"Far more successful"? How? How was last year "successful"? He failed to win a GP, failed to control his nerves at Cardiff, failed to finish in the top 8 and failed to keep his dignity as once more he ended the season needing to be seeded back into the series. And I only "jumped onto the Subedei train" regarding Nicholls last August around the time of Malilla and elrcgate

And I was right all along. Well, seeing as you're so wrong on so many other topics (such as the Branneys), it's merely a question of balancing things up a little.

Was he not 9th ? there is the 'wild card' system in place, we may not agree with it, but it has brought Sajfutdinov into the series and kept Lindgren in, was that not good for the sport ? now if one or two of the wild card places are to go to current GP riders it has more credibility if they go to the riders nearer the top 8, ie 9th is it not ?

The wild card system should be there to bring in new young riders, and also keep in the likes of Lindgren while they find their feet. It shouldn't there to keep in someone who's been in the series for seven years and already been seeded in on a previous FOUR ocassions. Clearly Chris Holder would have brought far more to the GP series than Scott Nicholls, he's a lad (Holder) who gave Sayfutdinov a run for his money in last year's World U21 championship. How many chances is Scott Nicholls going to be given? Well, surely he's on borrowed time this time. If the Brits are in there for the British audience (and I'm not convinced their inclusion makes a jot of difference to the Cardiff attendance), then surely not riding in Britain could cost Nicholls, especially as his chances of finishing in the top 8 this year already look remote given his performance last Saturday at a track where he is (here's a laugh) a track specialist.
