Another old old clip...... Love the way the presenter describes what the helmet is for. And this line made me laugh....(in his best Mr Chumley-Warner voice) "A handkerchief or scarf protects the face - flying cinders from the track play havoc with the complexion" ....... lol ! Cinders... ? ;D uk.youtube.com/watch?v=h3HlG6QpRrY&NR=1

Cinders... ? ;D Speedway used to raced on cinders, back in the days when people had coal fires instead of central heating.

That seems to be a one camera angle video, but here's the ITV footage of both Ht 7 (Plastic Penhall versus the uber-golem) and Ht 14 (Plastic Penhall versus super-moan Knudsen): uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mKQGiQbtKEgBut here's thrill a minute stuff from Tomasz Gollob, when he was wild as wild can be - Nielsen takes him to the "chip shop" on turn 2 (a favourite trick of Nielsen), but Gollob has the last laugh: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QtZpFfyfJJwAnd here's Gollob being a bit naughty during a meeting between Unia Tarnow and Rzeszow, as he takes to the centre green to get the better of Nicki P: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pbmr_QRjBE&NR=1Please note, the rider in the blue helmet colour is the Weirdity, who doesn't need to resort to such tricks to beat Nicki P.

And here we go back to 1973 and the climax of a fortnight of International action saw England meet Sweden in the Final at Wembley. The two teams finished level on a night of high drama and so we had a run-off for the Championship. Sweden went with Anders Michanek and England chose the teenage sensation, Peter Collins..........the rest, as they say, is history!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6Rp0GINn9E&NR=1

Anyway, the loneliness of the long distance runner: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFl2S9H7pwc&NR=1Yes, poor old Jacek Gollob appears to have a poorly bike at Wroclaw, but with a point up for grabs he takes to his heels and pushes for home. Eventually, younger brother Tomasz turns up to offer moral support to his clearly flagging brother. Then, with the end in sight, some bastards turn up and point out that it's all been in vain, presumably because he exceeded the time limit (I think you get about two and a half minutes from tapes up to complete the race, it might even be less in Poland). And speaking of the lesser Gollob, PePe Protasiewicz seems less than impressed with his riding in this clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_wf1HIbHD0Meanwhile, Craig Boyce shows his displeasure with the actions of Tomasz Gollob in the way only he knows how: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYbMzqo0QqI
