The Edward Kennett saga continues with the following statement posted on www.coventrymotorspeedway.comCOVENTRY promoter Colin Pratt has issued the following reaction to reports that Eastbourne boss Bob Dugard has agreed to sell Edward Kennett to another Elite League club.
The report states that a deal of £25,000 plus a rider exchange has been arranged with the un-named club, who would then loan Kennett out for the season as they have already completed their team.
Such a move would require the consent of Kennett himself, who has already put in a transfer request to the Eagles.
Pratt said: "We made our final offer to Eastbourne for Edward at the BSPA on Tuesday, and this was refused.
"This was following Edward's transfer request made earlier this winter, in which he stated his desire to move from Eastbourne to Coventry.
"We felt that the fee Bob Dugard was asking for Edward was ridiculous, but likewise he felt the same about our offer.
"At the end of the day, it will go to arbitration because the rider will always go where he wants to go.
"What Bob must remember is that he is not dealing with cattle in a cattle market, he is dealing with human beings and sportsmen.
"The move will go to arbitration after 28 days have elapsed from Edward's transfer request and we will take it from there.
"In the initial discussions, Bob told us he did not want a loan deal, he wanted to sell him. Bob cannot sell Edward to another club without Edward's agreement, and Edward has said he wants to move to Coventry."

On the face of it, Coventry appear to be acting appalling here. They seem to just want to get Kennett on the cheap. They'd be singing a different tune if it was a Coventry rider. Indeed, they did sing a different tune when it was Hamill and Hancock in 2005. Kennett can ride wherever he wants, that's true enough. All Bobby D has to do is persuade him to sign as an asset for the third club and Coventry are fucked. What are they going to do, refuse to sign him on loan if that happens? And if that is the case, what does it say about the management at Brandon?

Kev - are you not a Kennett fan then? ;D You should have seen the look on his face when the rumours were Bridger to Lakeside. ;D I think he'd have preferred Dryml.

Maybe then it's time for me to start the rumours regarding the 2010 Lakeside team, which I believe will contain Lewis Bridger, Edward Kennett and Lukas Dryml.

You forgot Roo boy ;D Interestingly, between you, you've picked the big four , so all it needs now is for Lindback and the greater Compton to be linked and I'll be searching eBay for a reasonably priced rope. Seriously though, out of the four of them I could actually live with Kennett in the team, because, to be fair, he did put in some remarkable performances for us as a guest in the run-in to the season. Bridger has a lot of talent on a speedway bike, but needs to grow up very quickly, and Lakeside is not the place for him to do that. Slime hasn't got a clue about PR, he just pisses people off everywhere he goes with his ignorance and arrogance, Lindback is a serious accident waiting to happen and Dryml doesn't even know where the Lakeside track is...........no, we're far better off with the riders we've got. That should get some response.

I can understand the sentiment, the Poo Boy does seem to relish baiting rival supporters and does often come across as ignorant and arrogant. But, he does seem to manage to attain popularity among the support of clubs he rides for. He retains strong support amongst the Armadale faithful, he seems to be worshipped by the "Look at me" gang at Coventry and he was well received by the Witches support last season.

As Coventry supporter myself I think Rory is a slightly in the Robbie Savage bracket (only slightly) . In that he is one of those guys that you hate if he is in the opposition team but love if he is in your own team. He actually is a very pleasant guy to talk to if you get the chance, he just seems to have a knack for getting up the oppositions noses! He has readily admitted that he just hates losing at anything' and I think that shows when he has a bad meeting, maybe that rankles with our British "be a good loser" mentality at times, but for any sportsman who wishes to prosper, it surely is a necessary part of their make up. Maybe where others will hide their disappointment at a bad night, Rory just makes it too obvious for some peoples liking.

Sorry, I can't agree with that.........Slime guested for us on a few occasions towards the end of last season, and I still hated him.
