I know Trump has helped turn Oxford around, but I don't know much about him, what do you all think? Allen Trump is an extremely wealthy man (well, he was before he took over Oxford anyway ), and is a speedway fan. He is the man behind the proposed revival of Exeter in 2009, and that is where his heart is. My contacts at Oxford tell me he's an approachable guy, and has integrity.....I think you'll be in good hands jacques!!

There's no way that this deal hasn't been in the pipeling for weeks, maybe even before the end of the last season. Too true, the timing between the announcements wouldn't have been enough to tie up a deal like this, and won't it be interesting to see which way Coventry's vote goes on the points limit.

The big question remains though jacques..................will he get rid of that flapperjack starting marshall of yours?

In reality, Avtar Sandhu was never going to last very long in the sport, was he? He never really "bought in" to the arcane ways the BSPA run the sport and was always going to lose patience sooner rather than later. He bought a stadium with plans to redevelop it for other uses, discovered he couldn't, so set about making the best of a bad job. Then he fell in love with the sport - speedway can have that effect on you, but as quickly as it entices you it can infuriate you. He reminds me a lot of Stuart Bamforth, although probably without the profanity, or the cigar. Bamforth, a straight-talking, cigar-chomping ex-stock car racer, had made millions demolishing the satanic mills of Lancashire. He bought the old Belle Vue stadium at Hyde Road and discovered he'd inherited a speedway team with the deeds. He also fell in love with speedway, but in the end, faced with a huge bill to bring Hyde Road up to the required safety standards and increasingly infuriated with the BSPA, he sold out to a car auction firm. And who really could blame either him or Sandhu?

And who really could blame either him or Sandhu? You are so right Sub, as you know I've only followed speedway for a short while and I'm completely hooked but the way it is run is unbelievable. Luckily for us I can't see Rugby council ever agreeing to a car auction establishment . Kev I think you'll find he's part of the furniture so he'll be staying, I'm kind of glad and look forward to your rant next year .

I'd love to - but even on here he has his 'spies' and I can't be arsed to get into any sort of 'my solicitors say...' conversations with the man again!

I'm relieved to hear the good news!! However the best news I could possibly hear is that PETER YORK will not be part of 2008 plans!! I'd go as far as to say who cares if we are premier league -- speedway is speedway and all the better without the aforementioned person!

Awww come on Lupus, you've wetted my appetite now - there's always a pm function as a last resort.
