And the champions of the Premier League make an early start with their team building as Ryan Fisher and Andrew Tully sign on the dotted line for 2009 at the end of season dinner dance this evening.

Brilliant news, just a pity we can't sign all of the remaining team from 2008.

I guess the Monarchs had to act fastest with those two riders, since they seem the most attractive to other teams, notably those in the top flight, although Thomas H Jonasson might be rated as the most attractive to Elite League clubs. I guess that's me saying that I think Jonasson might be one of those to depart. But Fisher's recent performances against Wolverhampton won't have gone unnoticed in the Elite League and nor will Tully's continued improvement.

I'm just not sure how great a signing he'd be. A huge talent, to be sure, but likely to have extensive junior commitments that invariably interfere with Edinburgh fixtures. And with the inevitable de-strengthening of the Monarchs, it might not be so easy to cover his absences as it was in 2008.

The smart money seems to have Thomas H Jonasson joining your first speedway love Swindon. Fingers crossed that's Hatcham's bet of the day. Will be disappointed if he doesn't return given he seems to have indicated a willingness/desire to do so. His points away from home would be invaluable. Rico

I think THJ will want to double up in the BEL so he can stay with us. You never know he might cut down on his other foreign committments

The guy is already signed and sealed for Gorzow in Poland and will probably have a couple of clubs in Sweden - a couple of clubs in the UK would be too much.

He isn't signed and sealed for Gorzow and he is only riding for one Swedish team in 2009.

And he may have only signed for Vetlanda, but Swedish teams have farming agreements with the allsvenskan teams this coming year. That means that the Swedish juniors and Swedish riders below a 6 point average will be made available to their partner club for Thursdays.

I would have thought the last thing that the "invisible speedway rider" (copyright Paulco) needs is more meetings - he couldn't commit to all his meetings last season Incidentally, is THJ a member of this forum?
