Alun Rossiter for being such a whingeing bad loser.... and for not accepting that Swindon were beaten by the better team (it had nothing to do with the pink changing rooms )

Have finally just started reading "Tragedy - Kenny Carter". It's interesting reading about crowds and financial problems that were there in the 70's. It seems in some respects not a lot has changed.... Of course it isn't much different. Times were economically harder (IMO) in the 70's and the early 90's and speedway made it through them times. In fact Speedway and it's fans it seems have when self examining / pondering how to improve the product since the end of the war, how do I know this? My dad showed me a world final programme from either 1949 or 1950. In the it the programme notes of the chairman of Wembly Stadium made interesting reading. He basically said that come the winter serious questions would have to be answered on how to take speedway forward etc, and that riders, promoters and fans would have to etc ad infinitum. However I can fully understand the "disillusioned fans" point. I used to attend premiership football quite a lot. However since 2001/2 I think I have seen no more than about 5 live professional football matches, non of them in the premiership. The reason being I am sick of the greed, money and pampered twats who play the game now. Plus having been an administrator in two football clubs I am sick of the lack of real support they get because the FA prefer to focus on the England team and the premiership. However I don't frequent football forums moaning /whinging about it, I simply just don't go and take my nipper to sports that IMO are more deserving of my money - namely Ice Hockey, non League Football, Speedway and Rugby.

A lot of truth in that first post you made. I remember the 1980s and at that time it was felt that speedway was on its knees, but now it's viewed as a mini golden age of the sport. It wasn't. It was just better than it is now.

To be honest Gen M, they have been pondering since 1928, the death knell was sounded many times before the war even began

That's true Sube, as I said elsewhere recently I found a box of old Reading programmes ranging from the early 70's to the late 90's, reading through the proggie notes some of the comments written 10, 20 and 30+ years ago could have been written yesterday. There's always been one problem or another for the sport to face.
The sports come through many highs & lows and survived - albeit as a minority sport - that life cycle will continue imo until the developers/local authorities eventually kill it off.

Peter Clarke for being an absolute tosser at yet another meeting.
Not only did he bottle it many times, but then started laughing when the crowd showed there anger.
Sure Grumps1 will agree, the ref was an arsehole

Really struggling here....not much in the way of nominations are there?
Any last minute suggestions for me because there isn't really anyone worthy of the award yet!

Try someone with power on BSF Lupus A bigger mish mash of brains you would have to go a long way to see You should give them a proper roasting for having such massive chips on their shoulders Edited because I and just about everyone else has no idea if it was the Mod team or an individual.

How about Refs that constantly make incorrect decisions, and always seem to cock up meetings one way or another, whether it be Elite, Premier, Conference, GPs, or Challenge matches, they always find a way to spoil it for everyone. Or riders who lay on the ground just to get the race re-run, then when they are excluded, have a go at the ref despite it being obvious that nobody touched them. Really pisses me off

See now I didn't want to be seen as a sycophant by mentioning the spat that Sub has been having with the SS on the BSF (and I don't mean Steve Shovlar!). Especially as he included me in his insults as I thought the ref's decisions were all spot on in the GP!
However, despite Rob's tireless attempts to 'tempt' me with Alun Rossiter - who is a complete NOB there is no doubt...... I have to say that this weeks winners are ......Forum Moderators who seems to think the title allows them to practice thought control ala 1984! - so (to use Sub's own phrase) The Potato-Brained Facists it is then!
