For the record i do attend speedway, i was merely playing devils advocate, but as a football fan who no longer attends i can understand and accept why somebody may choose to stay at home. Also i wonder how many people, like me live best part of two hours from a track. I agree - I no longer attend football matches but then again they are surviving without my support and attendance.. I'm two and a half hours from the EOES when travelling from work (over 220 miles round trip there and back home!) - so dedication is required!! I would be the first to complain should speedway close down at Hoddesdon or the EOES..

My point Hatcham is - why do I have to listen to the views and opinions of persons of whom don't even attend live speedway meetings.. Surly that makes them Flapperjacks.. - How can they be in an position to express valid opinions of the state of British Speedway? If they don't go and support speedway then they shouldn't go onto chat room banging on about "my team did this" and "my promotion did that! / "This is whats wrong blah blah blah"

I see the two posters concerned POV. Last season, Leicester City achieved their biggest crowds in the modern-day all-seater era despite the team playing awful. Why? Because you want to be there in your club's worst moment, just like a family member, you want to help it through it's problems and look after it. When everything's rosy, you feel calm and your self-being is assured that the club is well supported.

I'm not sure if you're fully aware of my particular 'issues' with speedway but I defy anyone to put up with the crap that I and my family had to tolerate from a certain promoter. To then continue to put money in his pocket just in case it will cause the demise of speedway is adding insult to injury. It WILL not happen. However, as speedway has been part of my life since babyhood I will continue to follow from afar and make comments as I see fit.
With regards to your commnet about saying 'my team did this...' etc - as I have said before MY team was there long before the current promotion and it will continue to be MY team long after he has gone (soon hopefully!). The current promoters are mearly caretakers of the club - it is the fans' club NOT the promotions!

Don't take my nomination personally as I know not of you nor your circumstances... My point is exactly that what you say - the promoters are only but the custodians of our teams. but unless we support our teams where/when possible Elite League speedway will die. Tbh my point is not the stay away supporters it's those who spout on about the current state of Elite League speedway without actually attending any meetings.... and there are plenty of those in Speedway Internet chat rooms!

It just means until speedway stops being a puppet show where the chosen few pull the strings, I refuse to put any money into it. Maybe if the views of the many once avid fans who no longer attend were listened to and some of the issues addressed, speedway would be in a far healthier state. Purely my opinon and it's your choice whether to read it

Hmmm - well as I'm a non-attender at live matches anymore - well not often anyway - the chances of me picking this is slim to none! Just because people have got so disillusioned with the sport they want to waste their hard earned cash on something where they are entertained and appreciated doesn't mean they don't care or deserve an opinion. I've been going to speedway since I was 6 weeks old and have been to home and away fixtures for the last 25 years. Therefore I think the 'support both bodily and financially' I've given in that time gives me and others in a similar position the rights to express our opinions! But Lupus - This is why British Speedway is dying on it's feet.. People need to Support the product and not stay at home moaning about it on Speedway forums... I agree it's bloody expensive, but it's an evening out, chance to see some live speedway action, take in the atmosphere, mix with like minded people and support the sport we all love or loved! If people who frequent Speedway chat room cannot be bothered with supporting the sport then what chance has it got of attracting new fans? I don't understand the mentality of people who will watch live updates and post about meetings when they don't/won't attend live speedway anymore.. As far as I can see these are people that are sucking the lifeblood out of the sport! I even watch Speedway at the crap ultra small Rye House "training" track.. Because it's a chance to watch live speedway and support something I love.. If nobody attends, the track will close down like countless other speedway tracks around the UK because of fickle fans! And then the Fickle fans will just get on their soap boxes again complaining that they have no local Speedway venue! I can't quite agree with you there. I've been a fan for 25 years (Lupus and famly took me to my first match). However - I can no longer justify spending £50 a week for me, Lord Robin and the Little Princess to go to speedway. That's £200 a month - just a shade under half our mortgage. We have no transport - we can bus it one way, but have to taxi it back because of the paucity of buses - £10. Me n him - £15 admission each, her £10. Then add a couple of drinks and you're nearly hitting £60. Mr Robin goes twice a month during the season, to cut down on costs. I make do with the forums, the update sites and watching the televised matches. We're lucky in many ways because Swindon are currently a thriving club. It completely pisses me off hear people like me who can no longer attend being called fickle fans.

I think it's fair to say anything of that manner would certainly turn you off the sport. There's somethings more important than Sport in life.....for some reason Speedway seems to forgot this at times.

Therefore by definition you are not a fickle fan - you have economic budgetary constraints from which are forced to operate within.. If you could afford to go to more meetings you would attend... n'est pas? So Therefore I am not including you in the "Fickle fan" camp.. In fact for that reason (as I don't know peoples personal circumstances)I didn't name names!

I would like to nominate Chris from Rye House, who seems to think that anyone with a contrary opinion to his own should been banned from the BSF.
