If you're counting doubling-up riders - Swindon have Ryan Fisher

Jason Doyle and (no laughing, please) Joe Screen join the Poole Pirates: Jason and Joe Join Up
Poole have officially named two more members of their side that they hope will be able to defend the Elite League title in 2009, with Jason Doyle making a return to the club and two-times British champion Joe Screen preparing for his club debut. Doyle returns from a season on-loan at Somerset where he steered the Rebels to KO cup success at Premier league level and Poole club owner Matt Ford believing that "Jason had progressed into the rider which I always felt he was capable of becoming" and admitting that "negotiating Jason's contract has been the longest set of talks I have ever had in the 10 years or so since I have been in charge at the club, but I really believe that now it has all come together it will be for the good of the club. I know that this will be a popular signing and I am also really looking forward to seeing Jason back here. Jason is a huge talent and whilst his success won't be as rapid as that of Chris Holder's I remain utterly convinced that Jason will become a Grand Prix rider in time and be challenging to be one of the best riders in the world." Doyle steps back into the Poole side on the average that he left the club with at the end of 2007, a figure of 4.76 and he will be joined by England international Joe Screen whom Ford admits "I am guessing that this won't be as universally popular as the signing of Jason but all I can say to the Poole fans is that they are going to have to trust me on this one. Joe last season actually scored at a rate of 6.18, he benefits from a reduction 2.5% under the British rule and that puts him on a highly attractive figure of 6.03. Believe me Joe is much better than that and he can easily put an increase on that figure over the year. I have to say that Joe has been extremely prudent with his contract and has based it very much around an improvement and fitness. I am aware that there will be question marks over his recent Poole track performances but its worth stepping back a moment and recognising that when he has come here as a visitor his track time has only been about 8 minutes a visit. Joe is so determined to do well that he will invest the time in ensuring that he has the right set-up on a weekly basis and I reckon that a couple of hours here on Press and Practice day will see him sort that out. He is 36 years of age and is looking to still be riding into his 40's. This new challenge for him could well be the catalyst for that to happen. His experience is immense and around the circuits this year he will be a real asset and certainly add some in-depth strength to our side. His lowish average gives us options at the bottom end of the team and I believe that it won't be long before Joe is as popular at Poole in 2009 as Adam (Skornicki) was in 2008. COVENTRY Buildbase Bees are pleased to announce Olly Allen as their second confirmed signing for the 2009 Elite League season. Allen, who recently collected the club's Rider of the Year award for the campaign just ended, has put pen to paper on a deal for his fourth season with the club. He started the 2008 season with an average of 5.44, and made an impressive improvement on that figure to post 6.74 at the end of the year. That is reduced to 6.57 given the 2.5 per cent discount for British riders, and means that the Bees have used 13.81 of the 39.90 team-building points limit on Allen and Rory Schlein. In addition, Allen's service to the Bees and previous club Swindon has entitled him to a Testimonial meeting, and this will be staged at Brandon next season on a date to be confirmed. Promoter Colin Pratt said: "Ever since he's been here, Olly has probably been our most consistent gater in the team. "Olly has been a very solid rider for us over the last three years, and you can see how much he's improved by his involvement in the World Cup squad. We're pleased to have him back." Ty Proctor/Chris Kerr share the doubling up berth at reserve for Wolves with Carl Stonehewer/Tomasz Piszcz doing the same down at Poole.

Has Chris Kerr signed on for PL team yet? Surely you can only be signed to double up if you have a PL berth, and I don't remember reading anything about him signing yet.

Was announced for Newport a few weeks ago, youngster. But there are work permit issues. Edit: Just checked and his name is not on Newport's team sheet in the "2009 line-ups" section of the BSPA website and on a re-assessed average of 8.00 he won't fit for the Wasps. In fact, the only place he would fit is Newcastle.

Ah....Now that you mention it, I do remember reading about the Newport deal, but I thought that had fallen through.
Sounds like CVS is going to fiddle it so that Chris keeps his current average and gets to sign for them!
