But lets be honest even the Speedway Star is confused on this as i have seen a number of riders named as assets of clubs that obviously were not. Let's be totally honest and admit that everyone is confused regarding assets.

As I understand it a team can sign ONE rider a year to it's asset base who doesn't have to ride for that club immediatly or get an average. In other words Wolves signed Woffinden in 2007 and Joe Haines in 2008, Coventry have signed Auty, Poole signed Holder, Eastie signed Gustafsson etc etc. Any additional riders that are signed in that season must ride for the team and achieve an average to be considered an asset of that club.

But Coventry have also signed Royndon and he's not riding for them this season either, or was he signed in 2007 and Auty in 2008 so that's okay? I think I'll stick to just watching speedway like I normally do rather than trying to work out what's going on. It's all too confusing.

I would imagine Royndon was signed in 2007 but I couldn't say for certain. If they WERE both signed in the same season then one of them can be 'poached'. I'm not Colin Pratt's greatest fan but I don't think he'd make a mistake like that!

There we go then...as I said Pratt will be well aware of the rules so I doubted very much Roynon was signed during the same season as Auty!

Robert Ksiezak has been named as Belle Vue's No 8. This could be the start of a profitable association between Belle Vue and Glasgow . With Gordon Pairman a promoter in both camps , Glasgow could become a conveyor belt in talent for the Manchester club . In the early nineties we sold Jason Lyons to Belle Vue , who went onto become a legend there , so i would assume the Aces will be keeping close tabs on Robert and our other two new young Aussies . Plus Lee Dicken

Billy Forsberg withdrew from his Allsvenskan meeting in Sweden today after a fall. Hope he's okay.

Reports are that Billy's injured his thumb, and is having an x-ray today to determine the extent of the injury.

I think that proves what a mockery the 2008 Elite League is. What a joke. £15 to watch riders like Nick Simmons, Henrik Moller, James Brundle, etc, I could go on - is nothing short of a joke. No disrespect to Nick, as I'm sure he's very happy to have a spell in the Elite League, but, realistically, is he going to do anything? No. A joke - and shows what a fucking stupid idea it was by the BSPA to scrap the 'Double Upping' rule. Fucking ridiculous.
