You're joking. How does the only person in the entire history of the universe to have been tactically outwitted by the golem Swales end up as Team GB boss. True, it's not quite as bad as appointing Rosco, but it's not far off. a) considering how those in charge of british speedway continually fuck everything up,lynch's playoff embarrassment was probably seen as a plus factor. b)apart from the fact he runs the premier team in 'dibleyland' what the fuck is wrong with rosco.

what the fuck is wrong with rosco. It would be a much, much shorter list if you asked what's right with Rosco. EDIT: Surely the voice of reason having a Wolverhampton avatar is a contradiction in terms... it's nearly as implausible as having someone with a Coventry avatar as the voice of reason.

Ah, but you're only looking at it from one perspective, here's another. Look at his record at Reading.............when he moved in there they only had a PL standard team (no offence intended to the PL), and during his first season in charge he very nearly lifted the EL Championship!! So, if he adopts the same policy in building Team GB we could see Jason Crump and Nicki Pedersen poached and available to us.............just a thought.

Well, I be blowed. Who would have guessed it? Congratulations Jim.
Also, congratulations to Mark Loram. That young man needs to have an input in the sport in this country one way or another.
(Who coincidently, is the subject of my latest art project and he is depicted in Ippo colours too.)

No, he led the BEST team to SECOND place in the Elite League, and therein lies the problem. And behind the happy facade, lies the real Rosco. Just ask Andy Hackett about that, after Rosco finished his career.

No, they weren't, Swindon were a stronger team man-for-man, as proved when they did the double over Cov in the A fixtures. BUT with a decent team manager behind them (Oakes), Coventry got motivated and knitted together as a team. So when it came to the business end of the season, the Bees were the more effective unit. But rider-for-rider Swindon were the strongest team in the 2007 Elite League.

However, I may have bullshit myself up next thing and invest a tenner into Speedway, leading a kamikaze attempt at winning the Elite League, not paying riders and ripping off fans and then maybe I will get the job.

I'm no fan of Lynch but to be fair it wasn't him ripping off the fans or not paying riders at Reading, he was just another BSI puppet with someone else pulling the strings. In fact, so the story goes Lynch actually put his hand in his own pocket & paid a rider one night who turned up at Reading & refused to ride unless he received some of what he was owed. Still don't think he's the right man for the job though. As pointed out elsewhere tactically he's not aware and tbh I don't think he's got the balls to deal with stroppy riders (see Zagar 2006/7) and the GB team could well have a couple of them in their squad in the very near future with Bridger & Kennett

It wasn't directed at Lynch - just directing at British Speedway in general. You need to be a mug before you get noticed.

Just ask Andy Hackett about that, after Rosco finished his career. I don't normally bother to pick you up on your Rosco bashing because I realise it keeps you amused, but that's a pointless comment, Genghis. I know of Reading fans who hold similar grudges against Marvyn Cox, but I bet you have no problem with him. So, why is it that Swindon do the double over Coventry and it proves they have the best team. Then Coventry beat Swindon in the play-offs and it proves that Swindon are still the best team but just happened not to win it? Coventry were the best team last year. They proved it and they proved it in style. With regards to Lynch - I don't see it as a particularly great appointment or a particularly bad one. One thing he does have is a bit of a strut about him, which perhaps gives an air of authority. At the end of the day it would take some sort of genius to transform the GB side, and there aren't any about apart from, perhaps, Ivan Mauger. And I don't see why he would want to be GB manager anyway.
