Wacks, that's because our Elite League team in 2006 and 2007 was **** So we didn't travel well. The standard of your away meetings would have gone down at that point though. I remember the classic Good Friday clash when we brought your winning run to the start of the season to a screeching halt. ;D You thought that was a good meeting did you? Remind me what the track was like that day! Then think a bit more and tell me what the return leg result was on a decent raceable track. Wacks, there was nothing wrong with the track that day, it was just an excuse made up by the Bulldogs (Spike from Tom & Jerry) fans to try and save their blushes - instead of admitting that they were beaten fair and square by the superior team.

Rico, if you think that was a good meeting tonight, you've got very low standards. Then again you've seen plenty of meetings from Smellmead, so you would have low standards. If you'd have watched the classic stuff I used to witness at Cowley every week, you'd have higher standards. I wasn't the greatest fan of Smallmead tbh, however I have to point out I did frequent Oxford fairly regularly, but got fed up with that quite quickly as the entertainment value was nil and the admission charge was madness. I'll give you a clue of the 'era' I'm referring to - the one where the riders walked round the outside of the track to some shite music for their introduction. Proper pantomime. Rico Rico, but you have to admit the racing from this period was pretty amazing at times. Charlie Gjedde missing the gate six times but scoring an 18-point maximum for the Silver Machine was a sight to be seen.

Britain is not a good advert for speedway full stop, but as elite televised matches go, tonights was well above average............and i won some cash...... Ah, that's it. Well I actually consider the racing to be more important than some silly bet. And tonight was way BELOW average compared to the excellent meetings seen at the two PREMIER LEAGUE tracks (Somerset and super Scunny) on Sky this season.

And tonight was way BELOW average compared to the excellent meetings seen at the two PREMIER LEAGUE tracks (Somerset and super Scunny) on Sky this season. Comparisons to averages do not mean you take the two (in some peoples opinion) best meetings and state if it doesn't match up to them its below average. Averages take the rough with the smooth. I put forward the pish on display from Peterborough and Ipswich recently as examples. Tonights match, on the basis of the average entertainment provided by Sky matches this season was probably around the average, if not slightly above, so I'd lean towards agreeing with Hatcham's comment rather than your blinkered pish. I'm gonna have to have proper words with you next time we meet Mr P, which I guess will be next weekend - you really are posting for the sake of it and posting some crap at the moment. Rico

I quite enjoyed the meeting when it finally got going. Richardson surprised me by riding so well, and so did Joe Screen. But Cook was right - overall Lakeside should be disappointed by that performance. Fry should never have been allowed to win heat 14, Shields isn't having the best of seasons, and Nieminen looked inconsistent, again, much as I like him, and love his attitude. Really pleased to see Robson taking some of his home form to other tracks - he's a battler and always gives 100%. But still, some good racing.
Shame Poole suffered injuries - I hope both riders recover quickly. And thank you to hatcham for updating this meeting.

Got a bit bored with all the nonsense last night . Hans playing the big man , Richardson greeting and moaning and Ronnie Russel flapping his arms around . Once the racing did start it was pretty dire stuff , had to go to work before the best races apparently . But i can't believe nobody has mentioned the real star of last night's show - The green start girl . What a fantastic derriere the young lady possesses and accompanied with those knee length boots , it's a wonder Shovlar hasn't approached her about an acting career . ;D

I was surprised no-one had mentioned it too !! Riggers...you're slacking !! ;D Think all 4 ought to have been wearing the same tbh.... Paulco - I think you and grumpy Genghis are in the minority.....? ! Thought it was a fairly good meeting in the end. Not great, just good. Certainly wasn't dire, and I think some of the riders were being big girls blouses at the start - thay have all raced in much worse conditions !

Got a bit bored with all the nonsense last night . Hans playing the big man I don't think he was playing the big man. He just wanted to do some racing ! He looked totally relaxed and happy last night, and was fired up for some racing. Good on him, I say ! But why did Kelvin Tatum have such a monk on last night ! He looked liked he'd been chewing a wasp, especially after the Hans/Charlie fliritng bit where Hans didn't answer the question.....!

Kelvin seems to have issues with us - has done for years. Usually gets in at least one dig throughout a meeting.
Track kerfuffle at the beginning was simply down to the Sky entourage sticking their oar in. One of the track guys I know said it was farcical, with two of their honchos giving out differing instructions. Add in Steve Brandon flapping his arms about as waving a stop watch and chaos ensued.

I'm more interested in why with an hour of time to kill and two roving reporters, a microphone wasn't shoved in Matt Fords face, was he there ?

Riggers...you're slacking !! ;D I've seen it mentioned and I missed it but to be fair if I'd seen it I'd have kept quiet, they're about 15 aren't they and that's a bit pervy unless you're 14 ;D Specsavers said on Monday that my eyes had improved, think I'll ask for a second opinion

Paulco, I'm glad you agree that last night was dire - I was starting to think I was in a minority of one. According to Hatcham & Rico it was "above average" - if that's above average then I would hate to see what average was. Ronnie Russell waving his arms about must appeal to some people more than it does to me.

The 'ladies' were from the evocatively named 'Peaches' bar which I assume is probably a lap dancing club in Bournemouth. Whilst I've no real problem with start tarts per se, this obsession with getting erotic dancers to stand at the line passes me by. It's obviously a testosterone thing. I'm more interested in why with an hour of time to kill and two roving reporters, a microphone wasn't shoved in Matt Fords face, was he there ? If i know Matt, he would've loved a chance to get in front of that camera, hence the timing after all these weeks of that press release. But to equal effect, i'm sure Terry Russell etc put the mockers on him having screen time right away for fear of what he might say. And believe me, if he's as wound up about this as I suspect him to be (and I've not spoken to him recently but know how he has reacted in the past to other incidents, added to which the wording of his statement) then he would not have held back. A shame because I'd have loved to have seen what bombshells he let drop!
