From www.nickipedersen.com10-09-2007 Nickis injuries worse than expected
The big crash in Saturdays GP in Bydgoszcz, where Nicki, together with Hans Andersen and Jaroslaw Hampel hit the airfence in leg one with full speed, now sends Nicki out of racing for one week, or in worst case even longer.
According to Nickis physiotherapist, Nicki is suffering from a nearly broken collarbone, now missing a little piece of bone, and a massive blood accumulation under his right shoulderblade. During the crash Nicki might also have dislocated his shoulder in a very short time - something that's causing a lot of pain.
- I instantly felt that the crash was bad, because the pain was very strong right after. But my adrenalin was speeding, and after a while. I could continue racing without big problems. But I guess I'll have to pay the bill now. I can only lift my right arm halfway of normal, and I'm constanly in pain. Of course I'm a little worried, expecially thinking about how close I'm am to secure my second World Championship, but hopefully a little pause will help me back on the bike, Nicki says.
Nickis injuries means among other things that Nicki needs to cancel Wednesdays race in the russian league. Something that Nicki is feeling very sorry about.
- I have some good experiences with speedway in Russia and my team Mega Lada Togliatti hopefully I'll come back later, but right now I need all the rest I can get, so I'm able to race in Krsko, Nicki says Oh dear not good Take it easy Nicki, hope you can make the KOC, if not no worries just get that world title!! Just going to post this on BSF, and see if they still think he is no that bad

I'm not surprised he was injured in some way in that crash, the way he hit the fence, ouch . I thought it may have been worse to be honest. He's very fit and incredibly focused, so I'm sure he'll be back fighting soon .

Am I allowed to comment on this? Well if you don't I will!
Incredibly fit, incredibly talented and the best one of all, incredibly hated by the majority, which makes him all the more incredible to me in the first place. ;D ;D

Nicki is hoping to make a return to action this Saturday against Lakeside.
But no worries if he can't the Eagles have Chris Harris on stand by to guest. Harris is also the guest for the Friday meeting with Lakeside.
It will be the first time this season we have had someone decent to replace Nicki, no disrepect ment to those who have.

Sounds like Nicki's on his way back to Rzeszow next year, and who can blame them for wanting him in their team? Now all they have to do is find a suitable replacement for Nicholls...

The latest on Nicki from his website:
15-09-2007 Nicki fights hard to get ready for Krsko
Nicki is still suffering very hard after the crash in heat 8 in GP Bydgoszcz. One week after the crash, Nickis left shoulder is still in strong pains, besides Nicki is having problems with lifting his arm.
The abscent recovery is starting to worry Nicki.
- I'm not able to race right now - I would'nt be able to make the turns. Of course it worries me, that things are working so slowly forward, but I still believe I'm gonna be ready to race in Krsko. But that means lots of rest and lots of physiotherapy, Nicki says.
Nicki's injuries also means that racing in Poland Sunday and racing during the week in England is out of the question.
- It's awful just to walk around, not knowing exactly how things are going to work out. I also feel sorry for my clubs - I would have raced if I was certain that my body was up to it, but right now I simply can't do it. My physiotherapist tells me, that if I race before I'm ready, things will get worse - that I don't want to happen, Nicki says

Well, if my Danish is correct, the news on Nicki's website this morning is that he was drawn unlucky 13th for Krsko. Erm...no you weren't.

For stuart road, from Nicki's website:
Standing before the Slowenian GP, a GP that could give Nicki his second World title in his carrier, Nickis biggest concern is to stay focused.
- Lots of people tells me, I have already won the title. To them I just want to say, it aint over until the fat lady sings. I have been too long in speedway to know, that things can happen. I mean, at the last GP in Bydgoszcz, I was lucky I could race after my crash in heat 8, and at the same time Leigh had a bad day - but what if things have turned out otherways - what if I could not have continued (I tell you, it was close) and Leigh was up front - no for me it aint over before the figures tells me, that I'm the one - that's the way I try to keep my focus, Nicki says.
Since the last GP in Bydgoszcz, Nicki has not been out racing. Does he feel a little rusty?
- No, I don't think so. Of course I would have preferred to race one or two matches before coming to Slowenia, but that was simply impossible. The good thing is, that my body is allright now, and I know the boys have been working hard with my bikes, so no excuses from here - now it's up to me, and I like that way.
