SCOTT Nicholls could be an injury doubt for Saturday's Elite League Pairs at King's Lynn following his crash at Coventry earlier this week. Nicholls was attempting to pass former team-mate Chris Harris on the last lap of Heat 15 to complete a maximum score, but ended up clipping his opponent and falling heavily. Although he was immediately able to clear the track, he did require treatment and has suffered a hand injury - which may cause the Eagles to call upon Cameron Woodward or Edward Kennett to partner Lee Richardson. Eagles co-promoter Martin Hagon said: "We'll be checking on Scott. To be honest, right now I'm hoping not to get a call from him. He is quite tough. He could pick things up afterwards and he said he was okay but we'll see. "If he can't make it, it will be a toss up who comes in. Everybody has been going really well and it would be a hard decision to make. Maybe it would be Cameron Woodward at the moment. "It was a big crash for Scott and it looked like it hurt. But he's a racer, he was in with a couple of top English riders and I think the Coventry pair had a point to prove." Lakside's Andreas Jonsson is already out of the Elite League Pairs and is replaced by Jonas Davidsson, with Steve Johnston in for an unavailable Robert Miskowiak in the Ipswich pairing. Surely Jarek Hampel would've been a better bet than Johno?

Surely Jarek Hampel would've been a better bet than Johno? Swiderski & Hampel would have been a better pair on recent form, but guessing all the Poles will be back in Poland therefore going to use the UK based riders instead.

I just don't understand why the BSPA persist with meetings like this and the ELRC - they've long-since become non-events - they had a raison d'etre in the 1970s and 1980s, but the speedway world has changed a lot since those days.

I sure hope Scott will make it this one, if I were a betting woman however ,I'd probably be putting my money on the Poole duo. Anyone else got any thoughts?

Sad to say it, jacques, but I don't really care - I know some will disagree violently with me, but I see this as an unimportant non-event that's hardly worth the effort.

With riders like Pedersen, Gollob, Hancock, Hamill, Karlsson et al not even riding in this country anymore I quite understand where you're coming from. It certainly isn't ELITE, if anything it should simply be called Best Pairs, then maybe stick a few PL pairings in it too to make it more interesting.
