At last the circus makes its way to our humbles shores. Think I'm being modest? I'm not. Most people's opinions of Silverstone are that it's a shitehole that needs much improving. But still we covet it because, well, it's Britain, and for the first time in a long time there's a chance that a Brit might win it.
The most recent British winner was David Coulthard in 2000, with Johnny Herbert being the last Englishman to take the trophy way back in 1995.
Fernando Alonso did the triple here in 2006 - on pole, fastest lap and race winner, and now he has a better car courtesy of nicking it from Ferrari, should be at least in the top three. Raikkonen winning in France was a blip. Everyone else seemed to be in their own little world and somehow never noticed the Ferrari sneak past in the pits. Still trying to work that one out myself. Hopefully the other red car will be able to claw its way back to second spot on the grid and keep the cheesy Spaniard busy whilst Lewis goes on to win the race, following in the footsteps of Chris "Bomber" Harris and doing his country proud. I have a sneaky feeling those fans who claim the sport is boring (well, it is now, isn't it?) will be tuning in to watch the final laps of this one. Come on Lewis - your country is rooting for you.

How much longer will the dwarf that runs Formula one allow us to have a home GP though . The little toe-rag has been hell bent for years to get rid of it , presumably to give the date to some other country that will give him loads more money to spend on a bigger box when he's kissing his wife . I've never been to Silverstone so i don't know how much of a shithole it is , but i wish Bernie the midget would back off and away and annoy some other country's organisers ( like Hungary hosts of the most boring GP ever ) . The GP calender without the British GP is unthinkable .

Saw today that he's thrown the idea of a London GP out the window due to costs and the upheaval it would cause. The contract to run the GP at Silverstone runs out after 2009 and a new deal will probably depend on whether they spend £25m on upgrading the facilities. Bernie loves the Eastern GPs because they bring him in more money and isn't too bothered about his home GP. But if Lewis become world champion and sticks around for a while it's possible a deal can be reached that suits both parties - Bernie and Silverstone bosses.

As i said i've never been to Silverstone , but watching it on the telly some of the racing at the track is the best you see all year . But exciting racing probably isn't at the top of the midget's considerations .

Well, to be fair, how much excitement can you handle? We've seen at least three memorable overtaking maneouvres this season, which is usually more than you get in a whole year. I notice they want to reintroduce flexi-wings - another aspect Ferrari managed to make good use of, but were stopped from doing so after McLaren put in a complaint saying they were against the rules. Well, now the rules may be changing, but as McLaren are already using the Ferrari cars they shouldn't have any problems adapting.

Is it only Fernando that's in a dodgy McLaren then and the whiter than white Mr Hamilton is driving a car above suspicion . The laddie is doing well , but Mr Bean could finish on the podium in that car , though he really only has his team mate , the Ferarri's and a field full of Reliant Robins to beat . If Raikkonen can get his act together and string a few results together we'll see how young Mr Hamilton does when the pressure's really on .

Schumi, I'm confused. So you're saying that Alonso is cheating in the McLaren, but Lewis is not??? I think it's all a set-up by the Red Bastards anyway. All the best Rob

Should be a good race, Silverstone normally provides a few talking points and it is possible to pass on this circuit.. proved by Barichello a few years ago, when he showed his team-mate how to come from the back He may be fourth in the standings, but Kimi is still a major contender for the championship in my book, if he's up for it, which he was in France. Kimi is my tip to win this race, even though because he drives for the Red Bastards, I wouldn't be that upset to see both him and Massa blow up. As for Massa, well France showed that if Kimi is motivated, then Massa can do little to stop him. Massa will be praying that Kimi has another of his indifferent weekends, and then could step up and win for the Red Bastards. McLaren will be fighting to catch back up with the Red Bastards, and given an equal car, I think Lewis would win this race. I'm not sure if, just a week after France, whether that will be the case, though. Alonso desperately needs a good result before he ends up fourth in the standings and McLaren start to put most of their weight behind Lewis. Can't see him repeating last year's win though. Prediction: 1st Kimi 2nd Massa 3rd Lewis 4th Alonso So far, except the last race, every time I've predicted the Red Bastards to win, McLaren have come through. I hope that happens again. All the best Rob

Not sure where Lewis found that from... he looked a cert for fourth on the grid until that final lap.
Interesting to see McLaren performing on a par with the Red Bastards today. Does that mean a different fuel strategy or have McLaren caught back up?
All will be revealed tomorrow.
All the best Rob
