I'm a blood-soaked old Mongol warrior, so I really wouldn't lay any great claim to being sophisticated, but those "rider jingles" that tracks seem to insist on playing when a given rider wins strike me as being embarrassing and tacky. And most of them are hardly imaginative - oh, an Australian wins, time for Rolf Harris to tie his kangaroo down again. I mean, hardly imaginative, is it? To me, all it does is perpetuate the impression that speedway is caught in a sad time warp - and a time warp that taste forgot. What are the thoughts of others?

What was the Weirdity's tune at Berwick last season - no, wait a minute, you never got to hear that one, did you?

Work ok if they get the right tune and use them properly without talking over them, but they rarely get any part of that correct. However, Sullivan chose the Foo Fighters, Learn To Fly and that turned out to be always linked to great memories for Panthers fans. So to sum up, I'm just about for them because they're better than bugger all or some other drivel eminating from the PA and a gem is always possible.

I'm with Sub . It makes me bloody cringe . When we had Paul Bentley at Glasgow - we had to listen to fucking" Please Mr Postman " every time he won a race , thankfully by 2005 his ability had faded so we never had to endure it much . But it is something very tacky and tasteless and really only should appeal to the " xxxspeedwaybabexxx" fraternity .

Paulco - IMHO it only tends to work with fairly meaty music - give each of the seven riders one of the intros from "Fat Of The Land" by the Prodigy and it would be OK.

I take it there's no objection to Bomber Harris' "Dambusters", air raid warning & "Sex Bomb" jingles.

VERY Tacky! And don't forget the 'let's wind the opposition up' ones... The people involved seem to think they're the ultimate in wit....but when you've had 'Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?' played 100 times as your team comes out it really loses the miniscule amount of humour it MAY have had! Or there's the equally 'piss your pants' option of 'Who let the dogs out?' - that one has them rolling in the aisles!

Football is about as cringe-worthy with the 1950 tunes every club seems to play. I just want some kind of music to fill in the gaps and to make sure I don't hear what shite the two Daily Mail reading Coventry City supporting plonkers are speaking about next to me.

There's no doubt they are tacky in the extreme, and Coventry seem to be the worst perpetrators..........having said that, I do like the idea of teams marching onto the parade with a 'theme' music playing, and I think Lakeside should use 'Revolution' this year!!

For the home team it works. Look at Football with Everton and Z-Cars, Wolves - Hi Ho Silver Lining etc.
