There's no doubt they are tacky in the extreme, and Coventry seem to be the worst perpetrators..........having said that, I do like the idea of teams marching onto the parade with a 'theme' music playing, and I think Lakeside should use 'Revolution' this year!! Kev, you said 'marching'. That is certainly what they don't do, more like tick tocking. I just hope they are practising how to march before the season starts. As for the tunes, some of them are a bit tacky.

It's something they have introduced to cricket with the 20/20 matches and it seems to have brought about a revival in crowds (not just the music, rather the whole concept seems to have caught on).
The idea isn't a bad one, but as mentioned the execution could be better at times. I think the first time I saw it was at Wolves maybe, around ten years ago? All Toni Basil for MK and Super Trooper for PK etc
I love the flight of the bumble bee before Cov matches though, takes me back that does, along with the song they play just after it which has a great tune to it (I think the track staff march out to that one?)

What was the Weirdity's tune at Berwick last season - no, wait a minute, you never got to hear that one, did you? What are you on about, genghis? It was a subtle dig at the Weirdity. However, it was perhaps too subtle...

As someone who has been part & parcel of meeting presentation for.... well shall we say some considerable amount of years.... I think it's fair to say that all clubs are constantly looking at ways in which such presentation can be improved to enhance everyone's enjoyment.
With regard to music played when people like myself aren't gabbling away on a mic (I have to find time to devour the homemade bread pudding kind IOW supporters supply each week for example!), well it's not an easy task at all. That's because you get all age groups attending and everyone's music tastes are very much specific to the individual. One man's meat is another's poison as the old saying goes!
The ONE thing though that I'm always mindful of, at least I hope I am, and I know of many others in similar positions at other clubs are too is that we should NEVER lose sight as to who are the real "stars" of the show. i.e. those guys who put their bum on a saddle of a speedway bike and go out risking their lives to entertain us all.

What really annoys me big style is that crap music they insist on playing when the riders are at the tapes ready for the tapes to go up. They play it right until the last second before they turn it off, i don't know about you but it spoils the tension to the start, i like to hear the engine,s revving, its part of the build up of anticipation of the start.

Again thats a problem with the sound system Chris, because the music certainly doesn't drown out the bikes where we are...one of the best bits of the meeting...

Or there's the equally 'piss your pants' option of 'Who let the dogs out?' - that one has them rolling in the aisles! It might not have anyone rolling in the aisles but my dogs love that one! I think Jemma has been brainwashed because I'm always playing it in the car so now she reacts whenever she hears it. It's just a bit unfortunate when she's lying down at Coventry underneath my friends chair and Superbart plays it. No Superbart jingles at Brandon this year anyway so the presentation will be different. I know some fans didn't like the music or jingles so we'll have to wait and see if there is an improvement or not. Doesn't look like Peter York is moving on though does it? Oh deep joy!

I deeply and truly hate the fact that some bright spark thought it was really fun to use "Greased Lightning" whenever Captain Fantastic wins a heat. The worse thing, though, is that some toss-pot always lines up the music so it starts with the line "It's supreme, the chicks will cream" Yeuch.

My first match is Lakeside so unless we have their company then (and even then it's extremely unlikely that it's worth mentioning) it'll remain a keyboard commando type suggestion. Crowds are going to tell us a lot this season in terms of price structure and product.
