Schumi: I tried your little quiz and ended up with: Grounded in real life: Some of these statements seemed outlandish and wrong to you, but you found yourself wondering if maybe there was a little inner geek screaming to be let out to play Oh shit!!! I got the same result.

Well I won't post any more of my memories if you feel like that Paulco!! I just cant get into Team GB kev . It was ok in the days when Jimmy Mac , George Hunter , Bert Harkins and Bobby Beaton were capable of holding their own at international level . But now i couldn't honestly give a fuck about Team GB . In fact on the night of the last two World Cup Finals , i've been following the fortunes of my beloved Glasgow Tigers at Rye House and Workington respectavely . Sorry mate - Team GB - i couldn't give a monkeys .

A wee question Kev . With the 2008 World Cup being a foregone conclusion , with the final being at Vojens . Why cant speedway not be like cricket , with the World Champions being decided by Test Matches . Surely a set of test matches between say Poland v Sweden , England v Australia , Denmark v Poland etc etc over a couple of years ( like cricket ) with the tests being staged in the various countries would be better . A winter test series of say Australia v England would be a more attractive proposition than the Aussie Championships , where most of the top riders dont give a monkeys about .

I'd actually like to see that method adopted, but on an annual basis. With the exception of the meetings in Australia, the other fixtures could still be fitted into the same week that speedway currently 'shuts down' for the SWC. The fixtures in Australia could be done at the end of one year, and the beginning of the following year, so in effect the European riders only have to travel down under once every two years...........and while they were there, an Australian GP could be arranged. I stilll think that Denmark would be crowned champions at the end of it though.

I'd agree with Steve.Rather have England, and Gundersen would be a good choice. While i can understand people wanting Ivan Mauger.I can't see him having the time for the job what with his new venture(s) in Asia at the moment.Plus it would be nice to see NZ back up there, which might be more of a possibility for Ivan than getting us back on top of the pile

I haven't voted, and probably won't TBH. It's worrying that we feel the need to have a "foreign" TM, as surely as an unpaid position we really need someone who has the passion of representing THEIR country in an International competition to pass that onto the riders. Think a combination of Mark Loram and Chris Louis might be a good one in a couple of years time, not at the moment as Chris is still intent on riding and with his Managerial duties as well plus his Sky work it's all a bit too much TBH, and Mark needs to get his leg better, and get the riding bug out of his system before he can move on I feel. No I think probably Peter Oakes is about the best bet IMO, but lot's of you think he would not be interested, so can't see anyone else I think would do the job. Sam is passionate but for the USA and we all know that he likes large bucks for his services , so would rule him out. Erik is heavily involved in the Junior Danish scene, and Kelvin Tatum ....."shudder" No will not bother to vote, and just see what happens....so am watching this space ;D

In relation to the other thread and following constructive discussions with Sube and Genghis, my personal choice would be Peter Collins.
