So, one of the few interesting things Nigel Pearson came out with tonight was that a PL promoter had agreed terms with Tomasz Gollob to ride in an individual meeting at his track, but had to pull out due to a change in Gollob's Polish commitments. Now, the only individual meetings I can recall in recent times in the PL were Berwick's 40th Anniversary meeting and the Garry Stead meeting at Sheffield. While it's pleasant to think of Gollob riding for Garry Stead, you'd have thought riders would be giving their services free (with expenses paid, obviously), so no need for terms to be agreed, so could the much-maligned Peter Waite have almost pulled off the coup of the season?

What about the Welsh or Scottish opens ? Can you imagine Gollob riding round the boards at Armadale

Maybe as he has contacts with the foreign riders judging by his signings. But i think this will have been for Garry and the 'terms' may just have been , as you say, his transport too and from the meetings.

Stokes Garry Stead World cup, could have been the meeting.
Jan Staechmann would have had access to all the GP riders at the World cup.

Okay, well, Gollob's club Unia Tarnow are out of the play-offs in Poland now, so that would seem to rule that meeting out of the equation.

He might roll up at the Ashfield classic - if we manage to stage it this year . Imagine it - Gollob and the messiah wheel to wheel along the back straight at Ashfield . Well one can but dream .

I wouldn't attach to much credence to the mention of the Polish play offs either as the comment was immediately changed to "Polish Commitments" straight afterwards, as though it had been an error.
Don't worry - another 2 years and we'll have him back at Ipswich! ;D

I've heard that Gollob doesn't ride in testimonials or benefits on the grounds that riding in one would bring an expectation to ride in them all and that Gollob doesn't fancy being Steve Johnston just yet. I may be a million miles out, but I think Gollob's just the type of windmill that young Waite would tilt at.

Do Kings Lynn still stage the Pride of the East meeting?

Do Kings Lynn still stage the Pride of the East meeting? Where, of course, the Gollob brothers Jacek and Tomasz made the British debuts back in 1992 - Tomasz scored an impressive 9 points, I think, and King's Lynn were keen to sign him on, while Jacek scored 3 points, I think.
