From Panthers forum..... well i'll be a optomist and hope oakes can bring a true no1 in next season like a.j and get bridger and sort his head out.. he's a far better rider than king on smaller tracks AJ....?? Woah, that'll please KevH if we get him as our number 1 !! ;D ;D ;D Well, he said last night that the number 1 race jacket has been offered to Hans but they haven't heard anything from him yet. They also said Hans was invited to the Dinner Dance but he wasn't there. I'm still hoping that he will accept it but it's looking more and more like he'll be following Bratley away from the club

They've turned quickly haven't they. There are not many race winners out there but they've just about given up on one of the best and even want to get rid Looks like RF is going about things quietly and efficiently and with Oakes experience and contacts I think Panthers are back on track

Here's a candidate nobody has mentioned yet who had strong ties with Oakes last time he was at Peterborough........Ryan Sullivan......and he comes with a ready made nickname for Edwin Overland.

Craig Saul (not to be confused with his irritating substitute) does the nicknames whilst Edwin is the voice from the command centre where Gary knocks out birthday jingles and pop quiz information.

Interesting. No Mads, but likely NKI and Bjerre. NEW Panthers director of speedway Peter Oakes is convinced that Kenneth Bjerre can become one of the best riders in world speedway. Oakes is a big fan of the pint-sized Danish star and confirmed he is prominent in the club's plans for 2010. The latter also applies to club skipper Niels Kristian Iversen.
Bjerre finished in eighth position in his debut season in the World Championship and regularly shone on the continent, but he came in for flak from supporters for his performances in Panthers colours.
But that hasn't stopped Oakes admitting he holds the 25 year-old in high regard.
He said: "I believe Kenneth can become a genuine number one in the Elite League.
"Kenneth did very well in the GP series and only Jason Crump, Greg Hancock, Leigh Adams and Nicki Pedersen finished above him in the Polish League averages.
"That takes some doing and if he can ride to that level in Poland, he can certainly do it in England.
"I have spent several hours talking to Kenneth to try to establish why that didn't happen last season. He was very open about the issue and I feel I am in a position where I now understand it.
"The reasons will remain private and only time will tell whether I am right.
"I do not believe for one minute that Kenneth was either not trying or keeping his best equipment elsewhere as was suggested at times during last season.
"Both Kenneth and Niels are very much in our thoughts for next year. I think Niels is a rider who would make a smashing second heat leader for a team whereas I think, in the right circumstances, Kenneth could easily put one-and-a-half points on his average."
Oakes also confirmed that club asset Hans Andersen has been asked whether he would consider riding for his parent club again in 2010.
Andersen was the heroic spearhead of the club's surge to Elite League title glory in 2006 but walked out over unpaid wages and sponsorship in 2008 before the arrival of the current regime led by Rick Frost.
Oakes added: "I understand that Hans has been asked whether he is keen to come to back to Peterborough and that we are awaiting an answer.
"I haven't spoken to him myself but I have nothing bad to say about Hans from our dealings together at Coventry in 2008."
Mads Korneliussen is the only member of Panthers' 2009 team that has been ruled out of a return. The Swindon asset is understood to be in the frame for a return to his parent club.
Panthers have also blocked any other clubs speaking to riders in their asset base.www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/speedway/Speedway-King-Kenny-can-rule.5803486.jp

Peterborough Panthers owner Rick Frost has revealed the club made losses in excess of£100,000 for the second successive season. The Berkshire-based businessman says investment in the club's facilities and equipment was a factor in the six-figure deficit.
Frost appreciates the need to buck the current financial trend and knows the club have to entice more sponsors and supporters to the Showground in future years.
Frost said; "We have lost as much again as we did last year, but you have to take into account the money we have spent on new shale, improved equipment and work on our facilities.
"They are one-off expenses that won't be repeated in the future, but they all go down as expenditure and the losses for the season to run into six figures.
"This is a huge challenge for me as I have never previously taken over or run a company that doesn't make money.
"We need to bring in more sponsors and more spectators and the only way to do that is by making our product more attractive to the public.
"I have spent a lot of time in America and when you go to a sporting event like a baseball or basketball match over there, you are treated to a whole entertainment package.
"And that is something I feel we need to try to emulate. We are looking into providing entertainment before the actual racing and are also exploring the terms of our 10pm curfew."www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/speedway/Speedway-Panthers-reveal-100000-loss.5802355.jp
