I thought there was an agreement between the BSPA and SVEMO so that riders rode in their home country first? Looks like it's not worth the paper it's written on - the Swedes just walk all over us. No, it just means they consult and try to come to an agreement where a fixture clash may occur. Which has been at pretty short notice on this occasion.

Not really. The Poole meeting has been scheduled since the beginning of the season, and the Swedish meeting was re-arranged at least a month ago.

What I meant was not the fixture dates but that Nicholls has only recently been confirmed as an Ipswich rider and prior to that they would have been irrellevent

Schumi, that's exactly what Ippo should do to the disgraceful Nicholls. How do you deem this to be Nicholls fault when he already had the booking? He would not have known he would be joining Ipswich when he took the Swedish booking. Ah but then I forgot, on here it is always Nicholls' fault Beeone, I can make my own mind up. I always used to defend Nicholls as I over Sub was very harsh on him, but his behaviour ever since he failed to show at last year's ELRC has been shameful. I have no time for the bloke any more.

As I've said in the "flapperjack" thread, I don't see that the global superstar had a choice - he signed for his Swedish club in the winter and Ipswich about ten days ago. Sweden and Poland have to come first, although whether his Polish employers will want him again is open to question. I have no sympathy for the Ipswich prmotion. I doubt they're bothered anyway - not their attendance that could be damaged. If I were Poole I'd be furious, just as the Lakeside promotion were earlier in the season when Hampel didn't show for a spurious reason. Comrade Louis' credibility among other promoters must now be hovering around the zero mark.

Request for guest turned down by BSPA. Now am I correct in thinking couple of seasons back when Ryan Sullivan signed mid-season for Peterboro they got to use guest on couple of times he had a clash of fixtures in Russia? (cant be arsed to check maybe Peterboro fans can confirm?)

The question i'd like answered Gavin, is who is the rider replacement facility supposed to benefit ? is it the team ? the supporter of the club in question ? or the supporters that attend the match ? I can't see how anyone benefits from a PL rider being used.

Is Hans fit for this? Injured his hand last night in a huge crash - video footage on the Swedish Round 11 thread.

I can't see how anyone benefits from a PL rider being used. It's a toughie this...the rule is there and every team knows it. I don't think you can blame Nicholls for holding to a commitment made prior to signing for Ippo. You know that if the shoe was on the other foot and there were doubts that a rider who'd been riding for you all season might be missing to appear for a club he'd just signed for, we'd be whinging like hell about that too. In this case I don't think the fact he is British comes into it - for a rider who has started the season and made a commitment to the EL I'd agree, but not where a signing has been made mid-way through. We all moan about the lack of integrity and loyalty amongst some in the sport, and when a rider shows some, albeit not in the direction we'd like, it's still wrong. Yes, I'm gutted that we won't be watching a full strength Ippo team tonight and yes, r/r or a guest would make it a better spectacle, but until the rules are changed I wouldn't expect to see any outcome. The same would be true had Hans had a similar commitment (although injury may yet force his non-attendance tonight as well!). To be perfectly frank, right now the majority of Poole fans just want a victory or two after our abysmal season, and the fact that Ippo are under strength won't be half as important to 'us' as picking up a few points and getting off the bottom. I doubt you'll find too many terrace dwellers tonight lamenting that Ippo are ripping off the paying public if 3 points are picked up at the end of it. Harsh but ultimately true I'm afraid.

I am completely against the use of guests Squirlster, but if they are to exist i can't see why the use should be limited, but they should be nominated by the league, not the clubs themselves.

If the boot was on the other foot TBH we would be rubbing our hands together thinking about the 3 points to be gained, so I agree with you squirlie. Now the shock of the announcement has worn off, there was nothing else for us to do so we will accept it and move on.
