I've been away for a while, and without internet access, i was shocked to find Nicholls riding for the Bees on monday night, and even more shocked to find Hans is now a pirate(which pleased my Rae) I have to say a BIG well done to both sides for manipulating the stupid, destructive BSPA 'average' rules and bringing in riders they ACTUALLY WANT (not sure why Coventry want Nicholls though) Here's hoping Britains top two clubs end up fighting out the championship, all sports need BIG clubs, and speedway is no different.
Do we have a half Poole half Coventry avatar ?

I wouldn't celebrate too much. The whole sport is in danger of going tits up over this.

Can't agree with that Grachan, the sport may be slowly dwindling into oblivion in this country with only Sky and the Bookmakers capable of becoming its saviour, but the problem lies 100% with the stupid rules, its like an attempt to bring communist ideals into sport, it cannot and will not, ever work, ALL sport, team or individual needs a pecking order, if anyone thinks any different then why not introduce a sort of handicap system in individual speedway ? maybe Crump, Pedersen, Hancock, Gollob and Adams should all shoulder weight filled ruck sacks to even things up.

I can't think the Bookies will make much of the whole episode. Personally speaking, I think the only thing that can save things is more openness and transparency from the BSPA and SCB. As of yet, we have no real statement from the BSPA regarding either Poole's or Coventry's proposed re-declarations. Everyone is still in the dark; a vacuum is created. And nature abhors a vacuum. So, where clear and defined statements from the BSPA should be, the proletariat make things up.

I can't think the Bookies will make much of the whole episode. Certainly any suggestion of 'cheating' will kill off the potential interest of the millions of punters. Teams full of superstars who are unbeatable will not have a detrimental effect on the sport but if we continue to become a sort of 'wrestling on wheels' the rank and file gamblers will disappear and maybe they'll end up taking Sky with them.

On the BSF, SCB (the lad from Wales, not the Speedway Control Bureau ) stated that the BSPA should provide an united front and keep the discussion out of the public domain. I disagreed, as the public domain is exactly where the discussion should be. The supporters have a right to know what is going on.

I've just been reading the "Coventry should be thrown out" thread on the BSF, and I have to say, as an outsider looking in, how hilarious it is. There are one or two people debating the legitimacy of the Coventry team, a handful of people complaining about the mods/BSF/swearing, and the rest are bitching at each other. But it really is funny, and for once I don't mean that sarcastically.

That is how a civilised organisation would deal with things. But...at the moment all we have is mudslinging and accusations. I don't see how that can help the sport at all, particularly if it's picked up by the larger media outlets. If Messrs Cook and Trump (neither of whom or the clubs they've been associated with in the past are squeaky clean either it has to be said) have a problem, then initially it should be raised within the BSPA with a statement issued by that august (haha) body. All I keep thinking when people are screaming for all of this to carry on being made public, is be careful what you wish for.

I think it is just too late for sweeping things under the carpet, although I have no doubt that will be attempted by CVS and his cronies. The BSPA is a Potemkin village.

Flippin' heck Sube...that's an analogy and a half...you've just sent me off to Wikipedia with that one!

Flippin' heck Sube...that's an analogy and a half...you've just sent me off to Wikipedia with that one! And after a bout of research, do you agree with the analogy? The curious and amusing thing about this is that, it seems to me, Coventry and Poole both have the same argument, yet their supporters are fighting each other. Coventry fans, getting all high and mighty, as is their habit, saying Poole's actions are all wrong, while their team is okay because double-upers don't get new GSAs (where they got that idea from I'll never know, have they forgotten that Edward Kennett only rode eleven meetings for Poole in 2005 to avoid getting a GSA?). On the other hand, the Poole fans say if their re-declaration is wrong, so is Coventry's. Shouldn't they be showing a united front? Outraged of Dorset and 21stCenturyHeathen (who takes stupidity and pomposity to undreamed of heights) arm-in-arm as they storm the BSPA headquarters in Rugby.

Bobby D has now come out and said his bit on Poole and Coventry. www.theargus.co.uk/sport/speedway/eaglesnews/4404608.Eagles_count_the_cost_as_crowds_dwindle/ “We are extremely upset Coventry have been allowed to do what they have done. I suppose it’s not in the spirit of what the league is all about.
“They have put up their overheads in the range of £50,000. The problem is any club trying to match them has to pay out the same. Is that sensible?
“We have budgeted to lose £50,000 this season and we will exceed that. We will see this season out but we can’t compete with Coventry and Poole.
“They will throw what they need to at it.
“I had long chats with two other promoters and they are completely disillusioned.”

The monumental stupidity of some Coventry fans over at the BSF never ceases to amaze - pleased they all walked away from here after their appointed "leader" took the huff after I called Billy Janniro a joke.
