They all need their bloody heads banging together. All these self righteous statements coming from left, right and centre. All they're doing is bringing the sport right down to the gutter and publicising that they're doing it.

Interest point that seems to have slipped under the radar was Swindon's team change with Zagar. If riders averages that have completed between 8 and 11 matches come into play with regards to team declerations as explained by CVS, then why did it not seem to affect Swindons recent change. 2 words.... Tan Man Wacks, rubbish, Swindon had yet to complete 12 meetings, so were still building to 39.90.

I've said it before and - no doubt - I'll say it again, what speedway in this country needs is a Kenesaw Mountain Landis.

We should be competing on the track, not via the rule book or perhaps the cheque book. “There is no doubt that recent team changes have caused significant disquiet amongst supporters and many promoters. “In a year when many teams, like many of their supporters, are fighting for financial survival, it saddens me that a win at all costs mentality still seems to exist, especially as so doing acts to the detriment of many teams. “This is a tough enough year without us having to deal with questions about integrity and fairness, and I would be happy if matters were looked at by an independent party which would ensure that we can recover credibility. So Hougaard and Jankowski only riding a convenient 11 meetings for the Aces last season when actually exceeding their assessed averages in those they did ride was pure coincidence? Hougaard was so he could remain on a 4.00 average for this season so I can't argue with that one. Jankowski, on the other hand, suffered a busted shoulder against Eastbourne in June 2008 when he came off and James Brundle ran into him so that wasn't deliberate. From memory Jankes didn't ride anywhere again in 2008 after that night. Can all the Promoters who've queried it honestly say they have never done it??? Thought Not!!!

Which was exactly my point Youngy. There seems to be a lot of collective memory loss going on in the sport right now.

If there's anyone left who's not completely fed up with reading all about this, here's yesterday's news report from www.bournemouthecho.co.ukJOE Screen has labelled speculation he feigned injury to purposely avoid riding in Pirates’ meeting at Swindon as “ridiculous”.
Poole Castle Cover’s rider also said he was “angry” over accusations he deliberately tried to allow team-mate Tomasz Piszcz to pass him in a race at Peterborough, claiming it was “untrue”.
Both meetings will come under the scrutiny of a Speedway Control Bureau investigation following complaints from Pirates’ Elite League rivals Coventry and Panthers.
Last month, Coventry’s Allen Trump launched an attack on Pirates’ alleged “average manipulation” in their 56-39 defeat at Blunsdon on May 7.
Trump also questioned the reason for Screen’s absence, saying “it was widely predicted on the Internet prior to the match” that the Pirate would miss it so he didn’t reach 12 appearances and would therefore have a lower average for future team-building.
But Screen said: “That’s simply untrue.”
He added: “Last year I crashed heavily at Coventry when Chris Harris fell in front of me and damaged my shoulder.
“So I was riding on and off injured last year trying to earn a living.
“I had physio on it over the winter and felt it would be alright this year, but I took a hard knock on it riding in Sweden the night before Poole’s match at Swindon.
“I immediately got a doctor’s note and went through the right procedures.
“I made sure I had a medical certificate so Poole could use rider replacement (for me).
“I know it worked out it was my 12th meeting for Poole, but that’s just a coincidence because the doctor’s note said I had to have an X-ray on my shoulder.
“I had a certificate faxed to Neil Middleditch to show the referee before the meeting, so for people to say I could have ridden is rubbish.”
Peterborough’s Mick Bratley complained to the British Speedway Promoters’ Association that Poole had “cheated” the paying public during their 55-38 defeat at the Showground on May 14.
Bratley also told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: “Joe Screen was blatantly trying to get Tomasz Piszcz to overtake him in heat 12 when both were almost half-a-lap behind.”
But Screen said: “It’s untrue, and I can’t understand why he’s saying that.
“I’m not happy about it at all. There is no way I would cheat the paying public and I don’t feel it’s fair my sponsors have to read this sort of stuff.
“This has really annoyed me. I really rode my heart out at Peterborough and came away with seven points, which is my average.”
Trump, meanwhile, vehemently denies Poole chief Matt Ford’s claim in yesterday’s Echo that his comments about the Swindon-Pirates meeting were “a smokescreen” for their own issues over the Coventry-Ipswich meeting on May 25.
A statement on Coventry’s official website yesterday read: “These comments are totally unconnected with Coventry’s own team matters, and to suggest otherwise is wholly incorrect.
“The club has been assured by BSPA chairman Peter Toogood that a vigorous, full-scale inquiry will be taking place, which will leave no stone unturned until an outcome has been reached.
“Coventry speedway welcomes the action taken by the BSPA in setting up the inquiry and will await the outcome with interest.”

Coventry statement:
COVENTRY Speedway have reached agreement with the BSPA regarding their team re-declaration.
We would firstly like to place on record our thanks to chairman Peter Toogood for his invaluable help in resolving the various issues of the last fortnight.
We remain far from happy with the circumstances which led to our team being rejected, but we have chosen to sacrifice our principles on this occasion for the overall good of the sport.
We recognise that at this time the BSPA have more important matters to deal with, including their investigations into the recent Swindon v Poole and Peterborough v Poole matches, and they need to be free to fully concentrate on this and get to the bottom of some very serious allegations.
Scott Nicholls has agreed a deal to race for the club for a minimum of 28 days, or until such time as Olly Allen is fit to return to the team.
For that period of time, we have agreed that Jordan Frampton will stand down from the team, and we would like to thank him for his understanding of the position we found ourselves in. He is still very much part of our plans, and he will return when Olly is fit to come back himself.
I am very sorry for disappointing the people who appeared convinced that I would respond to this situation by closing the club down and pulling out of the sport. This has never been my intention.
We hope that if some good can come out of this episode, it is that speedway is run according to regulations which are put in black and white at the start of the season, and are not 'unofficially' added to without everyone's knowledge.
Our intention has always been to track the best team that we can for our supporters, within the rulebook.
The stance we took has clearly thrown up several issues for the sport to consider, but in the short-term we feel it is important now for us to focus on the important matches ahead, and for the BSPA to focus on their other matters in hand.

What a load of piffle from Sandhu - the man ought to be ashamed of himself. He used to be a good guy. What happened?

AS has been reported in the Press, the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) is currently investigating allegations that have been circulating regarding Poole Speedway.
Even though no specific allegations have been made, the SCB undertook to investigate the claims that were being made in respect of Rider’s Calculated Match Averages (CMA’s) and the possible manipulation of the CMA’s.
Consequently the SCB arranged that Graham Reeve, the SCB’s Administrator would compile a dossier for the SCB Members to consider.
This Dossier has been made available to the Members who are now considering the situation and a further Statement will made in due course.
Issued: Tuesday 16th June 2009.

I think a fortnight is okay to make investigations and complete a dossier as such.
If they had rushed it through people would still complain.

THE Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) instigated an investigation into allegations of wrong-doings by Poole Speedway based upon an outburst of claims in the Press, Internet Forums and Programme Notes from fellow Promotions.
The allegations were that Poole Speedway had attempted to manipulate Riders Averages in order to facilitate Team changes.
The initial stage involved the SCB carrying out a thorough and wide ranging investigation that involved interviews with over 20 persons, including Promoters, Riders, Mechanics, Team Managers, Medical Officers and other SCB licensed Officials and liaison with other Bodies.
The SCB Members met earlier this week to review the results of this investigation and find in the absence of any factual evidence the SCB are unable to proceed.
The SCB findings conclude that in future, the SCB will only make investigations when the following conditions have been satisfied:
- Complaints and/or Reports are made at the Meeting; either reported by the Referee or reported to the Referee and
- Is supported by proper evidence
The SCB cannot instigate an investigation based upon rumour or unsubstantiated allegations.
The SCB has requested the BSPA to review the current systems concerning Riders Averages and Team Building and to develop a practice that removes any temptation for Teams and Riders to compete in an inequitable manner.
Furthermore the SCB joins the BSPA in reminding all Promotions of the requirement to use the correct channels of communication when they have concerns.

Not a huge surprise in terms of the findings. But always a huge surprise to find a complete idiot like Reeve so high up in the SCB. He's not fit to be the tea boy.
