Having ended April on a high by winning down at Sheffield (a feat so amazing, paulco is obviously too delirious to start a thread for May), the heathen Tigers enter May with a visit from Sheffield. The teams should, in mock-paulco style, be:
Heathen Tigers
Shane "Messiah" Parker Ross "Hang on, I'm injured again" Brady..R/R Peter "Pointless" Juul Josh "trainee Messiah" Grajczonek James "Heathen No 1" Grieves Mitchell "Bloody hell, he's scoring points" Davey Lee Smart
Yorkshite Tigers
Ricky Ashworth Paul C0000per Ritchie Hawkins Joel Parsons Richard Hall Joshua "King of the cubicles" Auty Chris "I used to ride for Oxford" Mills
May will also see Glasgow's nearest and dearest paying their second visit of the season to the "centre of Heathen speedway excellence" and also - subject to avoiding being lynched at the West Lothian "trick track" - our very own genghis will also be a visitor.

Sub, Paulco reckons he can get me safely in and out of the Stadium Of Mince. And in between the two heathen derbies, we'll be taking in Berwick v Sheffield at the Cruel, Crazy Town to watch Chris Mills dismantle the Bandits. I trust the Old Momgol will be there, complete with driving shoes and loud shirt?

Most of the Monarch people I know tend to support the "Jam Tarts", so that might not be such a good idea. I'd stick to paulco's false beard and glasses, if I were genghis. And carry a Sgian Dubh, just in case.

And the Parker-Grieves double-act does it again in Hts 13 and 15 to give the heathen Tigers a Premier Trophy double over their Yorkshire cousins: GLASGOW..521..S Parker..3,3,3,2',2' = 13+22..R Brady..R/R 3..P J Larsen..1',0,3,0 = 4+14..J Grajczonek..2,2,3,1,3 = 115..J Grieves..3,3,3,3,3 = 156..M Davey..0,1,1,2',1,2,1 = 8+17..L Smart..0,0,1,0 = 18..A McKinna = DNRSHEFFIELD..381..R Ashworth..2,3,2,1,1 = 92..P Cooper..1',1,1,0 = 3+13..R Hawkins..3,2,1',1,0 = 7+14..J Parsons..0,0,2,2 = 45..R Hall..2,2,2,0 = 66..J Auty..2',0,0,3 = 5+17..C Mills..3,1',0,0 = 4+1Taken from: users.boardnation.com/~easy_tiger/And a win for Peter Juul Larsen? Surely there must be some mistake?

No mistake , he gated in heat 9 and held on well . Apart from that one race it was a normal performance . i.e. abject . We had a long wait before we got underway as the starting gate refused to work , and it was pretty chilly too . Sheffield coped better with the elastic band starts , but we got the tapes back after heat 5 at which point the Tigers took control . The Messiah and Scotland's number 1 dished out a masterclass , they have still to drop a point together at home when riding as a pair . Trainee Messiah had another competant meeting and Mitchell Davey continues his upward curve . Lee Smart had a satisfactory home debut , deserved more than he got as he was always battling from the back as his gating was awful . For the visitors . Ashworth was probably the best , although no match for our top 2 . Auty had two good rides and 2 duff ones . Hall , Hawkins and Mills were okayish , Parsons was poor and Cooper was awful . Entertaining enough meeting on a chilly afternoon though .

Seems Ross Brady will be out of action for another 6-8 weeks Time to call it a day with this fragile young man i think . Yes he could be a great asset on his low 5.11 average , but he can't seem to string 4 meetings together . Hugh Skidmore has looked okay riding in the second halfs recently , maybe time to give him a chance on an assessed 5 average .

I agree about the Brady thing - okay, his average is low, but so will his confidence be when he returns and that means six-to-seven meetings of him gating and going backwards before you see anything from him worthwhile. And what are the averages looking like? With the up-swing in Mitchell Davey's form could his average rise above Mrs Brady's? That would be a disaster for the heathen Tigers with the hapless Peter Juul Larsen heading to the reserve berths shortly.

Mitchell Davey is currently averaging just under 5 which keeps him just below Brady . After the Edinburgh home and away meetings the hapless Peter Juul will indeed drop to reserve along with Lee Smart .

With friend paulco off on his travels to Somerset this evening and likely to be the worse for cider wear tomorrow, it looks like I'll have to stand in for him again. This week's visitors to the "centre of heathen speedway excellence" are the Rebels from Somerset in KO Cup action, which means no double points, but the curious "tactical gates" instead, all of which could confuse friend paulco if he has one too many bevvies ahead of the meeting. Anyway, the teams:
Glasgow Tigers
1..Shane "the Messiah" Parker 2..Ross "still not fit" Brady..R/R 3.."Oh no, it's" Peter Juul 4..Josh "Trainee Messiah" Grajczonek 5..James "heathen No 1" Grieves 6..Mitchell "bloody hell, he's scoring points" Davey 7..Lee "not so" Smart
Somerset Rebels
1..Steve "Johnno" Johnston 2..Simon Walker or R/R, whichever is convenient 3..Justin "he's Australian so he must be good" Sedgmen 4..Emil Kramer 5..Cory "he's Australian so he must be good" Gathercole 6..Jay "he's Australian so he must be good" Herne 7..Tom "he's Welsh, but if he was Australian he'd be good" Brown
Johnston should, at least, provide a bit of competition in Hts 13 and 15, but the heathen Tigers should win.

Actually i'm not away to Cider country . The supporters coach was cancelled due to lack of numbers for this one-off fixture , and as it was cancelled late - when i enquired about the train on Monday i was told a ticket would cost £152 return I don't mind paying a decent price , but these jokers are just taking the piss , a fact i enlightened them too . So it's just the updates for me tonight i'm afraid .

Ah well, that's a shame, but it means you can do a preview, since you do it so much better than I do.

So with the Tigers leading comfortably 28-14 after 7 heats , and seemingly cruising through to meet Rye House in the quarter-finals of the KO Cup , we had a downpour of biblical proportions that completely flooded the track within minutes - making carrying on impossible . 5 minutes from the track and the pavements were bone dry
