Not exactly new though is it? Chrzanowski and Swindon set a precedent a little while ago.
Just glad for once that things have gone our way!

What did you think it should be then Genghis? Remember that 8.00 would be for a current GP rider, and Jarek isn't that any more than Chra.....Chrzan.....errrr - the Pole who signed for Swindon was. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Taken from Evening Star: No testimonial for skipper Louis in 2008 13 December 2007 | 16:00 ELVIN KING IPSWICH Evening Star Witches skipper Chris Louis will not be having a speedway testimonial next year.
The 38-year-old has been attached to Ipswich since 1989 and enjoyed a testimonial in 1997.
“I could have had a second testimonial,” explained Louis. “But riders are only allowed two benefit meetings in their careers, and I will be organising a farewell meeting when the time comes to hang up my kevlars.”
Louis and his promoter father John are planning to complete their Elite League team by Christmas.
Rider/manager Louis said: “We have been fortunate to sign the first four riders we set out to get onboard.
“To have seven out of seven would be an achievement.
“We have three riders in mind, and we are working to that end - to run it through to the point where we can get them on contracts.”
Louis confirmed that Ipswich would have been interested in getting Scott Nicholls back at Foxhall Stadium after selling him to Coventry for £36,000 three seasons ago. Nicholls signed for Eastbourne at the weekend.
“The mathematics just did not add up,” said Louis. “If we had known Scott was going to be available three months ago it might have made a difference.
“It would be nice to complete the side by Christmas, and we are working towards that end.”
Louis, who was on a pre-annual general meeting BSPA think tank, says that he is happy with the outcome of the conference held at the end of last month in Coventry.
But he said it could have gone a little further.
Louis said: “I would have liked the promoters to have been a little bit bolder. But I am okay with their decisions, and some good moves were made that will lead to where I would have liked to be.”
Ipswich have so far completed the signings of Jarek Hampel, Robert Miskowiak, Tobi Kroner and Louis.
n This Saturday Witches season tickets for 2008 will be on sale from the club offices at Foxhall Stadium between 10am and 1pm.
Newly-appointed team manager Pete Simmons will be present and pleased to answer fans' questions.
Season tickets cost £300 for adults and £240 for concessions with programme included. Prices will be held until January 31. A passport size photograph is required.
Tickets can also be purchased by post from Ipswich Speedway Promotions, c/o 7, Penshurst Road, Ipswich, IP3 8QZ. Include a passport size photograph, a stamped addressed envelope and a cheque made payable to Ipswich Speedway Promotions. Reserved seats in the grandstand for the season can also be purchased at £15 each.
Apparently they might be talking to.......Johnno ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

taken from speedwayworldtv:
IPSWICH captain Chris Louis says the Witches are on target to complete their 2008 team by Christmas. Louis, who holds a rider/manager role at Foxhall, is pleased with the club's initial team-building which comprises himself, Robert Miskowiak, Jarek Hampel and Tobias Kroner. He said: "We have been fortunate to sign the first four riders we set out to get onboard. To have seven out of seven would be an achievement. "We have three riders in mind, and we are working to that end - to run it through to the point where we can get them on contracts." When the 2008 season gets underway, it will be ten years since the Witches won the Elite League title with one of the most powerful teams ever seen in Britain. Since the inception of the play-offs in 2002, Ipswich have only finished in the top four on one occasion - 2004, when they lost out in a dramatic semi-final at Wolverhampton. But the return of Hampel, on what appears to be a bargain average of just over six, has given them a strong foundation to build from. One name who might have come into the frame was former skipper Scott Nicholls, who left for Coventry three years ago - but the Witches were already well advanced with their plans before Nicholls became available. Louis said: "The mathematics just did not add up. If we had known Scott was going to be available three months ago it might have made a difference."

Irritating little man, and a piss-poor journalist to boot. The problem is, he makes all these statements in the paper that people believe, then the Witches promotion end up looking like the bad guys when the apparent "plans" don't come off. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

Taken from the Evening Star:
Hampel wants competitive Witches 19 December 2007 | 13:57 MIKE BACON IPSWICH Witches star Jarek Hampel is hoping, more than most, the Suffolk side can put together a competitive team in 2008.
With the Witches on the verge of naming their side for next season, Hampel is waiting patiently in Poland for news of his new team-mates.
And he makes no bones about it, he wants it to be competitive.
“I want Ipswich to be a good team next year,” Hampel, who is currently training with his Polish club Leszno, said.
“I want to race in a team that wins more than it loses. I know we can't win all the time but I don't want to be in a losing team all the time either, I want to fight and beat the good teams.”
Hampel's concerns about racing in a poor Witches team probably stem back to his last season in England - 2003 - which was a complete nightmare for the Suffolk side.
He ended up missing meetings at the end of that year, one the Witches couldn't finish quickly enough.
But that's in the past now and it's a new dawn for Hampel, and he is in no doubt what his main priorities are.
“I really want to do well for Ipswich,” he added.
“I hope I can and I'm sure I can. But I would also like to get back into the Grand Prix series in 2009, this is another priority.”
The Witches team for 2008 is sure to be at an advanced stage right now, with the likes of Simon Stead, David Howe and riders from last season Kim Jansson and Marcin Rempala being tipped to be in the battle for the final three places.
There is plenty of transfer activity among the other either eight Elite League clubs with the new lower points limit meaning there certainly won't be a shortage of riders.
For Hampel however the season is already up and running at his Polish training camp.
“We do a lot running, swimming and riding of bicycles, but not speedway bikes,” Hampel added.
“It's good fun and helps you prepare for what is going to be a busy season ahead for me.”
