Fair answer.
My UK speedway gap is 16 years, so I'm playing serious catch up with all these new names!
I'm gathering information piece meal about all these people and trying to put my own personal jigsaw together.
I have no idea how old Hampel is, or how long he's been competing at GP level, but from what I can gather he's not been fulfilling his potential.
I made the mistake of assuming he's an old hand and on the way out, what you say tells me he's still got a future, so I guess you're right, a spell in the UK might sharpen him up.
It still intrigues me that there's a few GP riders that won't ride over here though, I'd like to know why that is.

The very fact that Hampel was at Ipswich tonight to make the announcement is surely a big clue as to where he will ride in the UK next season!

Well, Jarek is 25 and could still have the world at his feet - if he's got his head screwed on right he should be looking at where Gollob went wrong and looking to not make the same mistakes. And it would be poetic justice if/when he returns, it's in the colours of Ipswich - together they could go on to much better things!!

I've got a hunch it's 6.27. All the best Rob Is that a Rob hunch or a RacerX (who mocked the suggestion of Hampel's return lately ;D {sorry Nick }) hunch? Oooo methinks you have problems with recall there Schumi. All I believe I (at least in the last month!)suggested was that the likes of Hampel would be likely to demand a hefty signing on fee if they were involved in squad systems. Quite a leap in logic to suggest what you have. I gather Hampel was one of a few we tried - but to no avail. I would never rule any ride out from riding here and I wouldn't mock anyone's return as I just don't know how much money tracks are willing to spend on these guys. Even Holta has been on the verge of riding here on a number of occasions - not for Reading I would hasten to add!

Bloody hell, now I actually feel sorry for you. Getting back to the subject I have to admit I hadn't realised how young Hampel was either - probably because he seems to have been around for ages, but I'm excited about seeing him back here. Can't see him going anywhere other than Ipswich, providing he is actually signing for a league team, but who knows. I also wonder if this will have any effect on the talks about the state of the elite league. Haven't heard any rumours about any more big names leaving us, though it's still early days. And there were whisperings that Tomasz Gollob might be tempted back for one more season. How good would that be for speedway?

Maybe Hampel has caught whiff of next year's plans?

Cheers for feeling sorry for me - thee's a first on any board ;D I have to agree Gollob is one of the the best entertainers in the sport but if goes somewhere it will need a driving outside line! Hampel looked so talented a few years back and I thought would be doing much more on the world stage by now. He is obviously a very handy rider and an utter steal on that average. He could transform Ipswich overnight - and some of the Ippo detractors on the BSF may be forced into a heavy reverse gear.

Don't see why.Although i don't know who you mean by "Ippo detractors" but those that i have noticed are Ippo fans who are complaining that the side is put together on a shoe string budget with no top stars. So if Hampel was signed that is exactly what they want and they will be over the moon rather than going into reverse.Probably feel that they finally got their wishes if the side is full of potential
