Apparently Jaroslaw Hampel, in attendance at the Ipswich versus Belle Vue meeting at Foxhall, where I believe he remains track record holder, has stated that he will be riding in the United Kingdom next season. Let the stampede begin.

do some of these teams not want to keep it close? Ipswich are just as bad by not using Kroner in heat 14. Theres still a bonus to play for after all. As for Hampel, no stampede necessary, just get him to sign before he leaves this evening. ;D

Tobi is the the brightest light in our dark season Stuart. He loves riding for Ipswich and is so proud to do well for us. A lovely lad, every week when interviewed he thanks somebody or other for all the help they've given him. He'll go far, hopefully with us!

Surprised this hasn't been posted on the BSF yet. Does anyone know what average he'd come back on?

In all seriousness, Tobi is one of a pile of riders Waggy introduced into the EL. He's now making the grade, as are a few others - all credit to Waggy for spotting the talent in the first place, and if he were still involved (maybe with a little financial help ) who knows what Oxford could be achieving now? And that's not meant to take anything away from Ippo, who deserve to reap huge benefits for taking the chance on the guy when nobody else would - personally I hope Tobi makes the big time........... with Ipswich!!!

Interesting that he should want to make a return after such a long gap.
Does that mean that he's on the way out of the GPs and needs another income, or is the EL held in higher esteem than we like to think?

In all seriousness, I don't think many would argue that riding in Britain does make a rider improve more than any other league. The differing tracks over here tend to make any rider a better 'all rounder' and if they have any serious ambition to make it big on the World stage, they do need to include the British Elite League on their c.v.

But he's 'been there and done that', so he's already got it on his CV; why, after 4 years, would he feel the need to do it again, unless he needs to make up his earnings? Serious question Kev, not having a dig.

Four years is a bloody long time, Jarek was an up and coming rider at the time and riding over here probably got him to where he is today. I guess he feels that he's not really progressed for a couple of years and a refresher course over here could move him one step closer up the ladder. On his day, Tomasz Gollob can be the best rider in the world, but lack of experience over here (IMO) has cost him the chance of the World Championship........... maybe, just maybe, Jarek has realised this and doesn't want to make the same mistake?
