No, SVEMO have decided to get rid of it because it has been abused. However the clubs will have a say in the matter before it's finally decided. So are they saying the place has to be filled by another squad member, or is there another alternative being proposed? Last year, in England, the most expensive rider was strongly rumoured to be Greg Hancock, and he wasn't even world champion. I'm split on this - I think that as world champion Nicki deserves to get some sort of monetary benefit as well as the prestige, but I can see how clubs shouldn't bow to ridiculous demands for money. I wonder if there's much of a difference between what he asked for last year to what he's asking for now? I couldn't say. The contract which has now run out was made in 2005. As for scrapping R/R, yes - the void would have to be filled with another squad member. Making injuries to star members of teams very hampering.

I suppose Gothenberg having R/R for Matej Zagar was the most outrageous example of abuse of the facility?

Jason Crump and Adam Skornicki for Vetlanda. And with the R/R facility gone, having someone like Jason Crump on stand-by is ofcourse a tremendous ace up the sleeve for Bosse Wirebrand and Vetlanda. Elsewhere, the woes for Rospiggarna continue as rider after rider leaves for pastures new. Their fans are growing ever more nervous as to wether Rospiggarna will be able to field a competitive side in 2008. Talk of dropping down to Allsvenskan is pretty rife.

Kaparna will not get their case tested with the national board of sports, as their appeal was rejected. They definitely won't ride in the Elitserien in 2008.

It's astonishing the number of Poles to be found in the squads - just illustrates the strength in depth that Poland has when it comes to riding talent.

They seem to, which is more than can be said for Zagar. But it is, after all, just a short ferry ride from Poland to Sweden, I guess, for a once-a-week gig.

The Poles are model pro's as far as Sweden is concerned. They have their own vans and mechanics and take care of themselves. They show up, ride, pack up and leave - often for less money than the others. Indeed, it's a much bigger hassle to deal with english based riders who wants planetickets, rented vans, hotel accomodation etc.

Well it is another chance to make some money and being on tuesday it doesn't interfere with Polish commitments. And some travel on to Denmark for a meeting on wednesday and can still be back home with plenty of time to prepare for the weekend

But it is, after all, just a short ferry ride from Poland to Sweden, From experience I can assure you it's not that short a ferry ride - the Isle of Wight ferry it certainly isn't.

Updates:
Linus Eklof and Robert Miskowiak for Smederna.
Matej Ferjan and Magnus Zetterstrom for Indianerna.
And it looks like Charlie Gjedde will be moving from Dackarna to Rospiggarna.
Still no news on the world champion.

From what i heard last year tommy says all the Poles take the ferry from Rostock(Germany) to Sweden rather than from Poland.Saves time and money according to him.

One major swedish newspaper did a lenghty bit about that ferry this summer following Robert Kosiecha and his team. Apparently it wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the speedway riders travelling back and forth. It's known as the speedway ferry.
