The rumour is that he'll be at Valsarna. That's actually done and dusted. Mellgren to ride 500cc for Valsarna in 2008. Which means he might feature as no 8 for Vetlanda in the Elitserien

Brilliant news - Tomasz Gollob is back with Vastervik. And joining him is Latvian GP wild card Grigorijs Laguta. Bit of a shame, had hoped my club would give this rider a chance since we've been talking of signing him almost all summer.

I like both the Lagutas and think they have a decent future ahead of them. No signings for Hammarby as yet, so it can't be long before the names start being announced. Do you think Nicki will be back?

I don't think Lejonen can afford him, and he ain't likely to go anywhere else for various reasons. Hammarby won't pay a whole lot more than they have been doing the last two years. So at the end of the day I think Nicki will have to lower his demands or risk losing the income of Sweden altogether. To be fair though I don't know what Nicki's demanding just assuming he wants a raise

Thanks Erik. By the way, I saw your letter(?) on Hammarby's website about rider replacement. Are you hoping they'll get rid of it?

Thanks Erik. By the way, I saw your letter(?) on Hammarby's website about rider replacement. Are you hoping they'll get rid of it? No, SVEMO have decided to get rid of it because it has been abused. However the clubs will have a say in the matter before it's finally decided. A big part of the problem with Nicki is that he's so expensive and at the same time he doesn't really appeal to Stockholm sponsors. They don't care if he's world champ as long as he's danish. They want a swedish poster boy.

No, SVEMO have decided to get rid of it because it has been abused. However the clubs will have a say in the matter before it's finally decided. So are they saying the place has to be filled by another squad member, or is there another alternative being proposed? Last year, in England, the most expensive rider was strongly rumoured to be Greg Hancock, and he wasn't even world champion. I'm split on this - I think that as world champion Nicki deserves to get some sort of monetary benefit as well as the prestige, but I can see how clubs shouldn't bow to ridiculous demands for money. I wonder if there's much of a difference between what he asked for last year to what he's asking for now?
